The new control panel is kind of.. facebooky. I'm not sure I like it, though I see I can customize things a little bit.

Thoughts?

looks really dumb. it lets everyone know who friends who and who bought what. stupid!

but i guess this is the first step before they go into the music digital distribution.

I didn't even notice before, but it is just the Control Panel, which now has the Facebook-esque Blotter. Not a big deal to me.

Am I missing something?

Or is this only enabled in the default style? I have the Obsidian format enabled.

I'm running Obsidian too, and it's there.

Go to the community page and there's two tabs, Overview and Groups.

I'm in the boat that likes this. I always thought that Steam could be more than just a game store, so community building features like the new blotter get me hot.

I like it for the simple fact that it helps me find anyone I might have missed the first time. The whole a friend of a friend is likely a friend.

There is a blotter settings link on the main page, click that and un-check all the notifications that you don't want to receive.

It is not so much that, as that takes up the whole page. I am happy that I am getting notice that my friends are becoming friends together, frollicking in meadows in the morning dew, but I do not need 25 lines of it.

You can turn it off by going into Community Tab-MyControlPanel-"BlotterSettings"

I found it, but now that blotter bar just stays there, mocking me.

You should make a post on the Steam Community forums. Valve seems to be fairly active at responding to suggestions on it as far as I've seen.

Chances are, that took you too long. So I will make it worth it, by saying bravo.

And next time I get on steam, I will be ready to come here and complain about any/all of the changes.
