Is anybody here interested in SOCOM? I had enough of CoD4, and while BF:BC held my attention for a few months, I'd like something more tactical. I dunno if that will be SOCOM, though.
I played the first one, and I couldn't finish it because I just couldn't deal with the atrocious AI. But a MP version seems like it would be lots of fun.
The beta's been out for a while, and the game comes out on Tuesday, but I have heard nary a peep out of any of the major gaming outlets (at least the ones that I check). Isn't anybody else at least interested?

Well rumor has it that the beta has been a little less than flattering. I know the SOCOM heads are anticipating this but when you sense weariness even from the die-hard fans, that's usually not a good sign.

I *might* pick it up but I doubt it, too many other games coming out that are fighting for my attention. A few of my friends are going to buy the official headset so the game is really only $10 bucks. It's the PS3 version of WiiPlay.

I found a crappy motorola blue tooth headset lying around. Big win for me although the one that comes with the game looks nice. I need to hear raves before I consider it.
Like OP said, I could go for more tactical.

I could really go for an experience more like the original America's Army, only with a fresh coat of paint/physics/netcoding, etc. Something a little more realistic, where tactics actually matter.
My big problem with CoD4, in the end, was that the gameplay was essentially Halo 3 with a tactical skin. Following "real" tactics just got you shot most of the time, because somebody with a quick eye and hand would always dominate you.
We'll see. SOCOM won't get my money unless the reviews are fanTAStic or they release a demo I really like. But I was very much hoping this would be a slower paced, tactical action game that encouraged team play.
Of course, looking over the official forums for the game last night, after making the OP, I dread the kind of person I'd be forced to play the game with. So maybe it's not a bad thing that there isn't any press for the game. :D
