- Gamestop knows that digital distribution for games is coming (http://www.industrygamers.com/news/gamestop-says-addressable-market-for-digital-distribution-wont-exist-until-2014/). Here's a simple way to figure out of the person you're with is worth hanging out with. Ask them who they are. If they say Shia LaBeouf, get the fuck out of there.

Just shut up Shia.

Your opinions on everything are fucking stupid and you are stupid.

Not sure, but I know my Wii is a nifty 200$ paper weight.

And I know how to find out what movies not to see! ;)

My Wii is a dust collector! Keeps it off my PS3 and 360 it does. :D

Where did this.. meme pop up amongst musicians that games like RB and GH are teaching you how to play music? Seriously, what the hell? You're just interacting with music you like in a fun way, that's all. Would they think it's "sad" if people danced to their music?

Lets see what we have here. Gamestop likes money, Jimmy Page and Jack White hate money and Shia Labeouf is an asshole with a hard name to spell. Business as usual.

It's gonna be the future soon. I've never seen it quite so clear.

It's popular opinion that everybody with a Wii is a type of gamer you should avoid?

I use my Wii to play games on. Go figure.

Shia just fucking trolled some people. I like the man, he also shits on the LEGO games.. and has a valid reason for liking Godfather 2. I think he gets hate for being just a dude, but who ends up in the role of characters we hate.

I mean, even if my best friend was playing his character in Transformers, I'd still hate the character for wasting time, same with Indiana Jones. But he does pick to be in the movies. It's hard to hate him for just that. I would have been all over the chance to get paid millions TO HANG OUT WITH THE TRANSFOMERS AND INDIANA JONES.

You do realize that the Transformers are not real right. He didn't really get to hang out with them, they were computer generated after he did all of his acti... um, whatever the fuck it is that douche does on screen to look like the physical embodiment of a queef.

Oh, and while the Wii may not necessarily be the console of choice for "true gamers," it does have its charms. Of all the people here who own a Wii, are there any who have that as their only console?

Yeah, my Wii was traded in for a lovely widescreen monitor for my PC and 360. I can understand where he's coming from. I too don't understand all the hate, he just seems like a regular joe who somehow ended up in movies to me. His acting isn't the greatest (nor the worst) but he has fairly decent comedic timing imo.

Well nobody wants to play with you anyway n000b!

Mine is a paperweight too

but he has fairly decent comedic timing imo.

It's not intentional though. And I know quite a few PC gamers here own a wii because its not a retarded PC like the other consoles. Apparently, all of them are not hardcore enough according to captain douchebag. I didn't get the hate before, but I do now.

I own a Wii and though I don't play it much, I don't hate it either. I found his comment really funny.

Doogie2k: I'm going to go build inventions in my space lab in space.

Edit: Oh, and music game hatred is just so stupid and poorly thought out. It's just people having fun with music they like. Some people who play music games will pick up a real instrument and some won't, but it will have very little to do with the music game.

I found the comment hilarious.

I don't own a Wii, or even like the console. I don't actually AGREE with his comment, but still funny anyway.

Oddly enough, as the above question here asked, anyone own ONLY a Wii? 4 of my friends own Wii's, but they also all have either 360s or PS3s and whe Wii's mainly gather dust (or get broken out for some drunken party gaming).

I thought it was funny for him to go on record with a comment like that, even though I like to think I'm a gamer and I only own Nintendo consoles - granted, I spend much more time with the PC.

My favorite from the Gamestop bullshit was this:

Consumers are willing to pay ~$39 for downloadable game so publishers will be less incentivized than some in the industry think.Uh, no. If most of that $39 went right into the publisher's pocket, I think things would work themselves out. Somehow, I think that if I buy a $60 game, less than $39 makes its way back to the publisher or developer in the current system.

Unless I'm mistaken, a lot of the problem is that if the digital distributors like Steam started charging noticeably less than the retail stores, the retail stores would stop carrying those games. At this stage, few large game companies could tolerate losing that many sales, so it's kind of a stalemate.

I don't necessarily wish Gamestop to fail. But I don't see how they can maintain their current market forever. With higher and higher broadband penetration more and more people go to digital purchases for gaming. Gamestop loses out not just on the sale but on the resale.

Hell, digital distro for games has already started changing the face of publishing - instead of needing the marketing muscle to get your box on thousands of store shelves, you pretty much just need powerful servers and good word of mouth to get some games to turn a profit - obviously the expensive to develop 3D powerhouse games don't apply here, but many smaller games are finding success without ever touching a shelf.

I will be curious to see how they function in the future. For at least the next 3-5 years I will be a PC only gamer, so I don't have a horse in the race, so to speak. But it will be interesting to see of they can find some new way to adapt, or if they will go the way of Kodachrome.

We played Madden. See? Madden is a gamer's game. He knows all.

I don't get the hate for Shia's comment either. It was no worse than many similar comments from people here on this forum.

He plays douchey characters and his acting isn't what I'm looking for in a performance, but he seems to be a genuine guy in interviews. Besides, he gets paid a a lot more than us and he hangs out with Steven Spielberg, so he must be doing something right.

As for what Gamestop's rep said, get real. We all know that physical media won't disappear soon.

Aw, damn! Maybe I can get a refund for all those games I purchased on Steam and Impulse :(

Yeah, a gaming PC counts. If you own JUST a Wii for gaming, then you're missing a ton. If you have a PC, you can play many of the same games that are on the consoles as well as PC exclusive stuff.

If Shia was knocking the Wii, I'd be fine. But he wasn't. He was saying that Wii owners aren't real gamers. That's stupid and snobbish. Even someone who just owns a Wii or a DS, is a gamer. They may not be your kind of gamer, but they're still gamers.
