So, either we need to get an xfire group going, or we need an xfire thread.
Let's make it happen, people.

My profile is in my sig. I need to prune my Xfire groups down. But this one will be the first added back in.

Is Xfire even necessary? I've never had it but it seems like Steam seems to do most of what it does.
Fill me in on why I need it!

I was just about to ask why have both. I don't even PC game like that yet but I have an idea about where I want my system to be in the end. I'm think dual monitor with my 32" LCD TV and keep it for consoles and watching TV vids and stuff but then getting a real gaming computer(first in a lifetime) and a nice monitor.
Anyways... What's this Xfire.

I don't know, actually. I'll try the steam in-game client tonight.

Since Steam added push to talk there's not that much of a benefit besides the ability to make custom voice chat rooms, the better overlay and actual game detection, but if people want it I could just rename the existing EvAv xfire group to CoG, I doubt many of the members would really mind.

Do it, and you get +5 cool points.

But we can take Screenshots, videos and broadcast our gameplay to complete strangers and friends, so Xfire still has some valid points.
Mastergeo7 is my Xfire, btw.

I need to remedy a broadband problem, it is named AT&T, before I feel comfortable gaming. I suffer a lot of dropped connections.

Anyone still using X-Fire?
biosc1 is the name...I like the chat overlay better than Steams...

I use both, though the xfire overlay doesn't seem to work for every game anymore. Fallout 3 and Supreme Commander seem to be the only games I've been playing that the overlay will work for.

Some people don't, mostly folks who only play Steam games online. The chat system for it is pretty crap. No audio out of a headset is inexcuseable. Steam's overlay also has a habit of making many third party games crash on whims. If you want to play Company of Heroes or Sins with me or the folks I normally play with we run X-fire and a Teamspeak server.
