Alright, I was thinking about seeing Quarantine tonight, but I really want to see the original, [rec.], because everyone says its amazing and the re-make is not as good. Anyone seen this that can tell me if its worth seeing?

I want to see this as well. It's got the hot lawyer from Boston Legal! :) Plus it looks fun. I didn't realize it was a remake though. Interesting.

They're both fucking lame. [REC] is really overrated and only the ending is scary/creepy as fuck. The rest of it is really blah.

Someone sounds grumpy tonight! Hey, I just watched Attack of the Windy Grass Monsters (aka The Happening) and I'm not rippin' on the new hot chick horror movie even though I'm still face palming. ;)

damn, ive been pretty disappointed in horror movies lately. the only movie I really wanna see right now is Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer. That movie looks like it has all kinds of b-horror goodness.

I thought REC. was great, but don't know how they'll do this one.

REC is amazingly good.

This looks... less good.

I heard it wasn't screened by critics and when movies aren't screened 1st by critics, there is usually a good reason why the film company didn't put it out for pre-screening...

I agree with prophet Mightbe....REC was amazing, and I doubt I'll even bother seeing quarantine in theaters.

Well it should also be noted that a good portion of horror movies are not screened for any critics because they tend to be a lot harsher with their reviews on horror.

There's some wisdom to this, but it's also worth noting that horror movies are almost never screened for critics (AFAIK). Horror as a genre isn't particularly critic friendly.

Edit: Damn, joey beat me to it.

I hope this movie burns in hell as a representation of all that is wrong with Hollywood.

That's not necessarily and indication of quality. Beverly Hills Chihuahua was number 1 last week.

I don't understand why people praise REC to the high heavens. That shit isn't as good as 28 Days Later, nor is it even terrifying until the end.

I went into it expecting greatness, and found nothing but failure until the last 5 minutes, which made my skin crawl like a 3 day old maggot.

TheSpoonyOne posted a review of Quarantine last night; long story short, he hated it.

Sounds like it has all of the zombie movie cliches that I'm sick of, with the addition of the whole camera bullshit. Personally, I liked The Blair Witch Project and Cloverfield, but I don't need a dozen of these things. Like he says, it doesn't even make sense for the characters to carry around these cameras. It kind of worked in Blair Witch because they were filming footage they planned to use later for their film project; the project they originally set out to do, and it really only became stupid once you got to the last moments of the movie, and Heather was still filming. It worked for Cloverfield because the guy packing around the camera was the kind of stupid douche that would run outside to film a tornado, with the idea that he could probably profit from the footage in some way in the future. Plus, neither were in the immediate physical danger that the people in Quarantine were in, at least most of the time.

If you are being chased down claustrophobic hallways by rage zombies, you are NOT going to lug around a huge professional-quality camera, never mind filming it.

I enjoyed REC a lot, personally. It was enjoyable til the end, then it scared the shit out of me so bad I opted not to traverse the building to finish doing my laundry that night. Anyone actually see Quarantine yet?

Rec is on my to-watch list, but I don't plan on seeing Quarantine in theaters. Maybe on DVD; probably on cable.

the only movie I really wanna see right now is Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer. That movie looks like it has all kinds of b-horror goodness.

That movie looks fantastic in the classic sense. For those who haven't heard of it, be sure and check out the trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejwdhipRQJU).

Man, I read this post and got all excited to go see this, but then I went to Metacritic and read up on it. After seeing a mix of the different reviews I really don't want to see it. Especially after hearing that I've pretty much seen the ending. That sucks. Why in the hell would they do that???

Nobody should have to watch that movie. And I'm saying this as the guy with both the Zombie Survival Guide and my glow-in-the-dark zombies sitting on this desk.

It's better the Cloverfield, REC and this crap fest.

So it seems that i need to see REC.

Quarentine I wasn't sure about anyway, but it sounds like skipping it would be prudent.

Diary of the Dead was shit.
I haven't gotten angry at a movie in quite some time. This one did it.

What a shit movie. The goldfish thing was just ridiculous. Too many shitty parts. Ugh.

I want to forget that movie. Same with 28 WEEKS later. God, that was awful.
