Yeah, I wasn't sure what was more disturbing, the fact that PETA actually felt the need to respond about a fly being killed, or the media's reaction - I saw a compilation of news reports on this (the kill, not PETA), and seems like they need a collective change of shorts afterwards.

I can see this quickly turning into something like Bush's shoe dodge, complete with Flash games. They were both amusing, I'll grant - so I don't mind seeing it mentioned here - but it just seems like the news should have more important stuff to worry about. And, for that matter, so should PETA. I don't know, just my two cents; carry on. :D

I think we should give PETA what they want: Use PETA members for meat. Seriously! They obviously hold animals at a much higher importance than other people (there's a difference between animal rights and being a vegitarian and outright zealotry) so why not donate themselves to solve the meat shortage? What would you expect them to say when asked for a statement? Although PETA try to create publicity I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt here and see this as the media actively seeking out a "that wacky PETA!" story.
