Marvel vs Capcom 2 Coming to XBLA [Archive]

Consider this one all but officially announced. I got a tip today from Wombat of CheapAssGamer (http://www.cheapassgamer.com) that there may be a little surprise up on PartnerNET, the developer version of XBox Live. After conferring with a few sources, it turns out it's true - Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is coming to Xbox Live Arcade.

There's absolutely no details yet, and in fact, the game on PartnerNET fails to even download. Someone tried to be sneaky though an hide it underneath a category called "Capcom puzzle fighter"

We'll let you know if we find out any more details - let's just hope this has online play. Of course, all this will still fall victim to the sub par 360 d-pad.

Update: - So I've just been informed by another source with PartnerNET access that the download actually worked. And Puzzle Fighter 2 came up. Gonna move this off the front page for now.

I was just playing Marvel vs Capcom in a bowling alley a few days ago. I was hammered and got my ass handed to me, but the experience was really nostalgic and enjoyable. If they can get a good online crowd, this could be an great stepping stone to bigger and better online fighters.

My friend has a copy for ps2. Put waaaaay too much time into that game. Needless to say I hope this is true. But I thought the thing that prevented this most was that the rights to different Marvel characters are all over the place.

Oh.My.God. Though I suck at fighting games, this game was an extremely good time. I will be getting this. Also, if this release comes into fruition, this could mean that Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 could be a reality. They have hinted at it numerous times lately...

This will implode the xbla system. If PSN can't get this, the console wars are over. Hopefully Capcom has some solid netcode in this bad boy.

Marvel has been buying their licenses back lately. I don't know if they re-own all the ones pertaining to this, but licensing deals can always be reached.

Activision got to use damn near everyone. I'm sure they have most of everyone in this game back. I can't think of anyone missing.

Nope they got the right back apparently. He was in the gold edition. I think the only person still noticeably missing is Punisher.

If it's going to come to the PS3 I'm just going to get it there, I have a Hori stick for that. Got it specifically for SCIV and SFIV, but this is a nice treat.

I just can't play fighters with the fucking 360 d-pad, it's just too terrible.
I never noticed and that how I normally play. Sometime I use the analog stick. But I do have a Hori stick for 360 so it's of no concern.

Wow, this is great news! I missed out this game and it's very hard to find a used copy that doesn't cost $70+. Along with KoF 98 on XBLA, this is a must-buy!

I do have similar concerns about the controls, but mehh I guess I'll live with it.

Yeah this game still fetches a pretty penny on any marketplace. This has become my new "Where the hell is .....?" game with Talisman on the shelf.

I was about to say what the hell is PartnetNet, so I looked it up.
PartnerNet is the name of the developers-only alternate Xbox Live network used by developers to beta test game content downloads, and games developed for Xbox Live Arcade. PartnerNet runs on Xbox 360 debug kits, which are used both by developers and by the gaming press.

In a podcast released on February 12th, 2007, a developer breached the PartnerNet NDA by commenting that he had found a playable version of Alien Hominid and an unplayable version of Ikaruga on PartnerNet. A few video game journalists, misconstruing the breach of the NDA as an invalidation of the NDA, immediately began reporting on other games being tested via PartnerNet, including a remake of Jetpac[1]. (Alien Hominid for the XBox 360 was released on February 28th of that year, and Ikaruga was released over a year later on April 9, 2008. Jetpac was released for the Xbox 360 on March 28, 2007 as Jetpac Refuelled.)

In the following days, Microsoft began reminding developers and journalists that they are in breach of NDA by sharing information about content available on PartnerNet, and has been asking websites to remove lists of games in development discovered on PartnerNet.

Wouldn't this be an NDA issue posted and all.

This is my second favorite fighting game of all time behind Marvel vs. SNK: Match of the Millennium on NGPC.

I'm working on getting my Hori working on the PC. The unofficial drivers though are only about 50/50 though.

It's the same deal with the sixaxis driver. It works perfectly for half the people and fails for the other. I want to play Children of the Atom on my Hori damnit.

You can play the first Marvel vs. Capcom as well on the PC. I play SF3: Third Strike on it all the time.

I have it on my PSP. It's in my fighting memory stick. Took me a while to assemble all the games I had that would work on psp.

That would be nice. When I did a search for both "Marvel vs Capcom 2" and "MVC2", if that thread came up, I don't remember. The title didn't let me know what the content was about.
