A little teaser photo of Whiplash in Iron Man 2. Apparently, this is a homegrown prototype of the Iron Man suit, and Rourke is a Russian ex-con.

Now we just hope he doesn't die in a weak ass 5 minute fight like his predecessor.

I hope he does die in 5 minutes so Scarlett Johansson has more screen time.

Ugh... What happened to him being Crimson Dynamo?

I heard they're combining Crimson and Whiplash into one character.
Take that as you will.

And then you use the Whiplash name instead of the more known Crimson moniker?

They are both pretty much unknown.

Really? It's been like a gajillion Crimson Dynamos. As many as there have been new Iron Man suits.

Dude, you get the fact that most people didn't know who the fuck Iron Man was before last summer, right?
Of course they don't know who Crimson Dynamo is. Hell, I don't know who the fuck that is (and I'm a hell of a lot geekier than your average movie goer.).

There's always the fact that Crimson Dynamo would play pretty much like an evil copy of Iron Man on screen (which they did in the first film), while Whiplash at least gets the freaky cool whips to set him apart in terms of the visual.

Evil copies are the best.

Hmmm, I kinda wish they had used a different villain for the second movie and actually used Crimson Dynamo in the third. Hearing him called Ivan Vanko, yet thinking of him as Whiplash, is going to cause me cognitive dissonance. Of course, I'm in the tiny minority of people who actually know who Ivan Vanko is, so I can't really blame the studio.

I only ever liked Rourke in Sin City. I just hope he doesn't ruin the movie.

I have to go with the folks that pointed out that no one in the general audience knows who Whiplash or Crimson Dynamo are. Hell, I didn't know who Ironmonger was and I enjoyed Iron Man just fine.

I'd say about 99% of the viewing audience for Iron Man, and probably even more than that, only know who Iron Man is.

There was an interesting article somewhere where some people found a connection between the two 'official' photos released so far. Whiplash is at some famous racetrack, obviously, but in the first photo with Stark looking at his moniters, the squiggly lines are actually a map of that track, plus there's a monitor behind him that seems to show a breakdown of whatever's powering Whiplash's outfit. Inconsequential, sure, but still kind of neat. :)

That and there's a lot of superficial semblance to real exoskeletons in development.

Batman 3: Rise of the Pidgeon-man.
It would certianly be Owlman

Yeah... But that thing he's wearing hardly looks like someone that could give Iron Man a run for his money. Maybe in the end he'll don a Crimson Dynamo suit.

What about The Wrestler? Rourke is a fine actor, I have absolutely no concern about him ruining the movie.

But Owls are also dark. Pidgeons are lighter. The Dark Knight vs. The Light Knight. SOLD!

Why the hell didn't Injustice League think of that? Shit a Opposite Batman would be a seemingly light sider on the side of Evil. Not Batman exactly but evil. I would also think something like Doveman in that case.

Because it would be totally lame.
When I glanced at this picture the first time, for a split second, I really thought it was a still from one of Rourke's B-movies. A second later I recognized the reactor on the chest.

Pigeon, is lame. But Owlman should of been the Light Knight. Shiny as Superman, evil as hell.

Of course it is, that's why it is funny. But the Light Knight is also extremely Lame as well.
