Ahhh... The man who doesn't care about PS2 games.
You can upgrade a HDD so it doesn't matter size if you getting a 40GB or 80GB.

$275 for the 40 GB is a good deal. When you do, make sure to add everyone!

I was rather confused there for a minute. Who the fuck is James A. Young and why's he the managing editor.
But I figured you out, Fitbabits.

Yeah, it had me confused too.
Hopefully most people keep their old names so I know who the crap everyone is.
Back on topic: good luck with that PS3. I really, really want one. But I should pay for things like, you know, rent.

I've had my PS3 a bit over a month, I think. Good luck with securing such an excellent price.

I am a relatively recent PS3 owner (got it around May) and while I find the retail games a little less than spectacular, I adore the PSN stuff and the PS2 backwards compatibility is worth it for me (goooo 60 giggers!)
My 360 just died about 2 weeks ago and being able to play PS2 games upscaled on my HDTV was nice enough to keep me sane until the 360 came back today. Now I'm torn between which to use. The 360 is my old favourite but the PS3 was there when I needed it. Plus the PS3 is so, so quiet...
At least you're picking one up when the games available for it are actually growing beyond the usual Uncharted/MGS4/Motorstorm trifecta.

As hesitant as I was to purchase a PS3, it's given me a ton of gaming love.
Pixel Junk games, Insomniac games, and Disgaea 3 have made it a very nice purchase indeed.

I love mine too and I was in the same boat as you. Although I think I am the only one that bought Siren and actually enjoyed it (the ending doesn't count).

I think the hardest part for me is to buy a multiplatform game on PS3. It's like I want all one set of games on one system. <shrug>

The Simpsons is the only multiplatform game I have on PS3. It's not multiplayer was the reasoning behind that buy.

I bought Dark Sektor or whatever for it because it was $10 and I like the demo enough to spend $10. However I am an achievement whore and not a trophy whore so almost all multi-platformers for me will be on the 360. Unless there is something that totally sets the PS3 version ahead of the 360 version, which I don't think I will ever see.
I'm drunk with power. 25 posts.

I feel the same way. But Joey doesn't because his brother has a PS3 and Call of Duty 4 (among other multi-platform games). It kind of saddens me, but it makes sense, I guess.

Ja, I'm with you. I've been really happy with the multiplatform games I've bought on my PS3. Except for the shadows in GTA IV and Oblivion. They look very pixelated...

I do that too, but mostly for the controller and the interface. Hell, I've been gaming mostly on some form of that controller for a good ten years now, it's just comfortable. The online thing I mostly couldn't care about, though it's nice to know that if I want to play a game online (like LBP or WipEout HD), I can just do it.
The one multiplatform game I won't be getting for PS3 is The Orange Box (I know I'm behind). I don't buy broken games.

I've been bumping my gums about LBP since GDC 2007...
Recently the only love I've been giving my PS3 is in the blu-ray department. I'm still exceptionally happy with the purchase and would do so again, but I'm finding myself doing more PS2 gaming on it than PS3. Not that that's a bad thing.
And heck, Uncharted and R&C are worth the price of admission alone. Good luck getting it!

I'm happy with my PS3, I only play it every now and then but there are some games that have made me enjoy it. Wipeout HD being the most recent title. Warhawk has been a great title for me as well.

I love my PS3. I love my 360 Elite, but i love my PS3 more... Swapped a few multi games out for the PS3 versions, and have been pleasantly surprised for the most part. The console throws out better sound, and what differences i spot in graphics are either noticably improved (Dirt, MOH: Airborne, GTA 4, Army of Two) or so close that any comparison is moot (Oblivion, R6: Vegas).
I have some kind of twisted logic behind my multi-platform purchases that even I cannot explain. I am buying considerably more for the 360 this fall than for the PS3 though - the breakdown is as follows - maybe someone can analyze the list and tell me something about myself that i don't know (being crazy is NOT something that i don't know):
Dead space - PS3
Farcry 2 - 360
Fallout 3 - 360
Call of Duty: W@W - 360
Prince of Persia - PS3
Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Little Big Planet, Resistance 2, and divorce court are all in there as well somewhere...

Yeah, that's true. I think our subscription just ended. Free online play is definitely an underappreciated perk of the PS3.
Joey and I hadn't used the 360 in a really long time, and we started replaying Gears last night. Man, that 360 is freakin' loud. I forgot how loud it was. :(

I got it for Father's Day (80GB MGS4 pack). I'm loving the crap out of owning one. It makes my PS2 games pretty and the PSN store has lots of great stuff.
That and I am also too cheap to pay for LIVE. I gots two kids, man. $50 a year means another box of diapers...or one more game next year, if I can get the older kid to use the can.

I love Live, and I don't let the story of RRoD get me down. I want to upgrade but mainly for a HDMI port, bigger HDD, and extra security from horror stories. :) Plus in my room, the PS3 gets it hotter than my 360 faster. It's really silent but damn.

I loved the Duke. And the 360 controller is pretty much all the changes I wanted. The black and white button just makes more sense as triggers. It's a little smaller than the Duke, but it's still bigger than my DS3.
he Duke controller has been criticized for being relatively large and bulky compared to other video game controllers (it was awarded "Blunder of the Year" by Game Informer in 2001[15] and a Guinness World Record for the biggest controller in Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition 2008).

That quote you have, about the Duke getting a Guinness award for being biggest controller - I refuse to believe that. Wasn't the Atari Jaguar's controller WAY bigger? The thing had a damn 10-key on it!

I had no problem with the Duke, but once I picked up the S-Type, I couldn't go back.
However, it seems like EVERYONE I know who's pro at shooters never moved on from the Duke. Maybe there's a connection there... LOL
