View Full Version : CoG isn't in danger of getting Foxed, is it?

I can't help but notice that the name CoG (Colony of Gamers), and the cog-shaped logo are vaguely reminiscent of Gears of War, what with their COG (Coalition of Ordered Governments, or whatever) and their cog-shaped logo. I can only assume that this far into the process any possible legal stickiness has been looked into and eliminated, right?

Not that I think there's any validity to this, honestly, but companies seem to tend to sue if you look at them wrong these days.

And Colony of Gamers is an awesome name.

I love the name, I love the symbol. If I could suggest something, it would be to possibily implement the COG logo into the banner at the top. Even as simple as just replacing the C in Colony of Gamers to the Cog. I think it would look sharp and really tie it in with the logo.

Cogs are generic so I don't see there being an issue. There are plenty of cogs out there in logos etc.

Daze is correct.

And I'd also like to say the acronym CoG was a happy coincidence. Nothing more.

If Epic sued us who would boycott?

I know I would, but then I am one of the four people usually relegated to corner standing that didn't like Gears.

Bottom line - I could easily take Cliff and Mark in a face-off.

There's at least one other "Cog forum" out there. http://cogx.org/forums/index.php

True, but we all know this one is going to blow up!

Yeah, I really don't think there's a likelihood of this happening, just something that occurred to me.

He could. He's Scottish. They're hardcore.

It's on the flag.

Wow, I barely noticed that. I still say the COG would look great in place of the C in colony, and add some emphasis on the name and banner besides a little flapping flag.

Considering that there is a good chance that Mark Rein is lurking about on this very site, and that bap and fits have given both Epic and MS some good exposure in the past... I doubt it.

Mark Rein

Careful there chief, you invoked his name. Per my conversation with Cliffy, he confirmed that's all it takes to make him appear. (Or at least lurk the thread.)

On that note, hi Mark!

To be fair, the way the flag is blowing in the non-existant space breeze it looks more like a goofy $ than a cog. :p :D

I'd be seriously surprised if MS+Epic really cared.

Especially since we're posting news about how awesome Gears of War 2 is. MS loves community-based marketing, so I'd say they're much more likely to come post here than try and shut us down.

I don't recall anyone saying that the flag was made of any specific material. It could quite easily be made from aluminium, molded to that particular shape.

Mark Rein actually called someone out on EvAv a few years ago, but I cannot remember what for. That was pretty funny.

There it is, good ol' Kam (http://www.evilavatar.com/forums/showthread.php?p=354052#post354052). Has he made his way here yet?

That's actually kind of hot and something I'd pay to see. And that's just you and Cliffy. Adding Mark Rein is just like a bonus or something.

And I mean that in the least perverted way I can think of. :p

Ha!

Space... the Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the Community of Gamers. Its five-year mission: to explore strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly poke with pointed sticks what no man has poked before.

Also, both of the flag-planters still very clearly have their hands on the flagpole! Even if there is a negligible atmosphere, they could be making it waver themselves. (I've seen too many specials debunking moon landing hoaxes...)

Don't specify "with pointed sticks"! Leave it out, and we'll sound a lot more Kirk-like.

To recap:

Fits went all Uwe Boll and challenged Mark Rein and Clifford B. to a sweat-laced cage match of writhing nakedness.

Derek "Desktop Commander" Smart, PhD. is going to referee it, and Rini is selling tickets and taking tasteful photographs. If anything goes wrong, you are going to step in and say "stop that" in your most authoritative voice.

Meanwhile, Bap and Fox will be exploring the galaxy and parts of Utah, while violating any weasels or snakes they find with a CoG flag made of aluminum, and covered in awesome.

.. I think that pretty much covers it so far ;)
