This week has been very good for the PlayStation Store. Not only did we get both Final Fantasy VII and Medal of Honor as PS1 classics earlier in the week, but this week's regular update is no slouch either. Two $5 games, a $10 online multiplayer FPS, and a new (very good) PS1 game. Rock Band on PSP also sees it's first batch of DLC. The full list from the PlayStation Blog (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/06/04/playstation-store-update-88/):
PS3:
CellFactor: Psychokinetic Wars ($9.99) [With Demo]
Trash Panic ($4.99)
Wolfenstein 3D ($4.99)
Street Fighter Alpha 2 ($5.99)
Overlord II Demo
Fight Night Round 4 Demo
MotorStorm Pacific Rift Voodoo Signature Livery Pack (Free)
Sonic Unleashed Apatos & Shamar Adventure Pack ($2.99)
Wolverine - Weapon X Arena ($9.99)

I grabbed Trash Panic last night and quite like it. My only real complaint is that there is no tutorial or explanation of anything, at least not that I could find. I'm figuring it out by way of trial and error but for a Tetris-wannabe with physics and combustion, it has a bit too much going on to parse without some kind of pointer.
And I might be banging a drum in the wilderness here, but a) is Rock Band Unplugged out yet and b) why are there 10 tracks available for purchase as DLC when the game just came out? I'm all for DLC when it comes to extending the life of a game but I HATE zero-day DLC.

If anybody grabbed Street Fighter Alpha 2, could they confirm whether or not this is the version with Cammy?
Thanks.

According to wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_Fighter_Alpha_2#Characters), it does not. That would be Street Fighter Alpha 2 Gold, which is part of the Street Fighter Collection on PS1.

Oh well. At least it got Rolento and runs well on PSP...

I believe the game comes out on Tuesday. It comes with like 45 tracks on the disc, so having a few more to choose from isn't too bad a thing, although I can understand your concern. My understanding is that this game is already in a lot of peoples hands through less than kosher methods, so maybe they are trying to get some money from those (does a pirated copy have access to DLC?) I'm still excited about the game, however I am a bit hesitant to buy this from the store in hopes that it may actually become available for download.
I picked up the CellFactor game, and it seems to be a pretty interesting Multiplayer shooter. I'm going to need to give it a bit of a shot.
Picked up Wolfenstein as well, one of the nice things about that one is that some of the trophies, upon being earned will grant you some extra spending money in the upcoming full disc Wolfenstein update.

I saw the Trash Panic and wondered how that would play. Let us know how it plays in the Weekend thread. I might add it to the ever growing buy "later" list I have going...
6/9 release for Rock Band Unplugged @ $39.99 according to Gamestop. I guess the DLC is extra incentive to buy? I'm tempted to pick it up...I have a $25 gift card from GS...if I can scrape up the rest...but with DLC coming all the time...I need to buy a new memory stick...maybe not...

How does that play/look? I'm very tempted to just grab it for nostalgia reasons.

What's so bad about 0 day DLC? Console certification takes so long, and they may as well be working on something during this time.

Probably similar to the recent iPhone incarnation. Cleaned up, etc...cross that with Doom that already came out for the 360 and you will probably get a good sense for it.
I'll be getting it.

It plays and looks exactly the same as it used too. I did notice that I was getting a bit of the Marathon XBLA spins from playing it for too long. Like biosc1 said you get a pretty good idea of the game comparing them to the prior Doom port. It's still just as fun shooting Nazi's and dogs.

Sounds worth it to me. I didn't buy Marathon on XBLA, but I played the demo, and didn't have any problems. If I can tear myself away from Persona 3 this weekend I should get it.

Cellfactor: Psychokinetic Wars isn't bad, actually. It's not very original (with elements borrowed from a very long list of games) but the price is right and the three classes play very differently (though the Guardian appears to be overpowered). Might pick it up. Liked the demo.

And as much as I can intellectually justify why zero day DLC exists, it's the perception that if it was ready to go Day 1, why not put it on the disc. It's just something that bugs me. If it was a thing where they were free for the first week after release, fine. And I guess that given that PSP titles are pirated up the wahzoo, this is a way for them to recoup some money. I just don't like it. If they'd released them after a week I could even possibly make peace with it. I just don't like it.
Plus they're Rock Band tracks. It's not like it's an arcane art...
Maybe I'm just miffed that they didn't do a proper port of Amplitude to the PSP and instead overcomplicated it. Mumble grumble...
I saw the Trash Panic and wondered how that would play. Let us know how it plays in the Weekend thread. I might add it to the ever growing buy "later" list I have going...Well, I like Trash Panic. And for $5, if it's something that looks at all appealing to me, I'll probably grab it even if it isn't perfect. I just wish I could find some kind of manual or tutorial for it as there is a lot going on in it and I'm not 100% certain how all of the mechanics work, though I'm figuring it out gradually as I play.
