I know that there are a few PC gamers going to pax, so I'm wondering if their is any interest in a bunch of us trying to get some spots in the BYOC.
I know I have a laptop I'll be bringing regardless, but if we have enough people interested I'd pay for a spot.
Basically reserving a spot for your PC / laptop will cost you 30$.
So if there is any interest post here, as when the day BYOC opens it'll sell out fast as they only look to have 400 spots.

I have my laptop and my desktop. I could bring either. I haven't done the BYOC, is it just basically a big LAN? What would we play? I'm down with TF2, L4D, Demigod or anything else anyone can come up with. I have CoD4 but I suck at multiplayer.

Yeah, it is basically a big lan.
It basically gives you a confirmed desk space to store your PC so you won't have to wait in line for a computer at the PC Free play area. Last year TF2 was a big hit for the Cog crew in the free play area.

This (http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=89478) is the official info thread on the PAX forums.
Estimated cost is $30, and it looks to be limited to 400 (or less) spots. 24" screen or less, and you have 30" of table space.
When you registered for PAX, there was a checkbox to for an email when BYOC registration started, so if you didn't do that, there is that thread, or @PAX_BYOC to follow on twitter.
Several of the PAX forum people I know mostly used BYOC as a rest stop and storage area. For the most part, it's secure, but it's still better if you have locks for your stuff.

EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't see Rogue's post.
Hmmm...do they have security constantly watching it?

Read what Rogue posted, yes they do have security constantly watching stuff, and if you want to bring your laptop out, you need to check it out.
Then at the end of the night, they lock everything up.
But like Rogue said...bring a lock just in case.

If anyone out of state is shipping their PC for this can ship it to my house and I can baby sit it until you get here and get it into the car for when you're being picked up from the airport :D

I'm undecided if I'd rather play or walk around watching other people play & checking out their rigs.

last year they didn't let me walk around and check out rigs. Which is kind of fun to do at LANs for me.

Really? that seems kind of lame. Although I guess for security purposes, it is better if people who don't have a rig in the area, don't get in.

Yes, for security, the only way you can get into the BYOC area is with a BYOC badge. ~400 desktops/laptops/monitors/other accessories roughly out in the open is a theft risk, so they heavily limit access.
One perk of the old BYOC was that attendees could get to the show floor an hour before official opening. However, with the changed times of operation, that's not gonna be happening this year.

That's understandable.

There is a high likelyhood that byoc will open 4-7 days from now.
Seating is having an online registration system, and that is what has been taking so long.

Meh. Doesn't seem like there is much interest in this. I'll still have my laptop but won't do this.
