Toys R Us does this every now and then, and our friends at CAG (http://www.cheapassgamer.com) have a great little FAQ (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/?f=437) up about this to lay everything out extremely clearly for you.
It's going on from 10/12 to 10/18 and any 2 games you buy, you can get a third of equal or lesser value for free. It's a perfect time to stock up on a backlog or prepare for the holiday gift giving to come.

All I can say is one or two weeks later would have been nice.

Damn straight, with Fallout 3 and Fable 2 being a week apart, my wallet screams in agony.

Actually, they cover that in the FAQ - getting in on this deal for games that come out within 45 days after it's over.

Can you post the text? CAG is censored at my work.

Yeah, I wish it would have come a little later, as I cannot think of anything other than Dead Space I might want to pick up next week.

Sounds way too YMMV to try to pull.
Plus there aren't even two games out there I want right now, would want to use the deal for games coming out the following two weeks...heh.

It's pretty long, maybe I can answer specific questions you may ask?

Basically want to know how to take advantage of this deal with games like Fable and Fallout that are releasing after it's over with.

From the FAQ: I cannot guarantee this will work at all Toys R Us stores, some management might be against the idea, use at your own risk.
If a game you really want is coming out after the sale ends, but you don't want to risk missing out on something on the shelves right now, the step by step here is what you do. Remember, the return policy is set at 45 days from purchase.
1. Pick the two games that you want.
2. Pick up a game that has the same price point as the game coming out, and the same price point as the two games you picked up. Example, if the game you want is $60, buy three $60 games during the week.
3. Make sure that every third game rung up, the free one, is NOT the placeholder game, but one you want to keep. DO NOT LOSE THE RECEIPT!
4. When the game you want comes in, bring the receipt and the placeholder game to the customer service desk, and tell them that you want to exchange the game for something else. Make sure you make specific that you want to keep the one or two games, and that you want one or two different games instead. MAKE SURE THE GAME YOU WANT TO RETURN IS NOT OPENED.
5. If everything is in order, the exchange will be finished and enjoy your new game!
The 45 days will take you into the first week of December, so plan accordingly.

Well, if I can get Dead Space, FarCry 2 and Mirror's Edge on that 45 days after deal then I am going to be a very happy man. I am not sure if I am willing to risk it though.

So... Nothing much. Maybe I'll roll with Dead Space and two older games...

Blitz: The League II
Blitz is the only one that even looks remotely interesting to me from those, and I would need to be more into multiplayer to really get down with that one these days. I haven't played a Blitz game since the first, but that was awesome.
I am thinking I won't risk it and will just pay full price for my games, like a sucker.

I did something similar to that last year with a Wii game, but I don't remember what the deal was. It is easier than you think, really. I'm going in and will be completely up front about what I want to do; either way, I'm buying two games and getting one for free, what do they care what the games are? If that doesn't work, I can still be underhanded the next shift. :p

From the FAQ:
My Toys R Us has done this for me the past two years. They even suggest it to me when I'm getting games to try to get me to buy more. I have even been able to swap the game that was rung up as free for another free title.
I always look forward to this event. I typically get 12 games [buy 8 get 4] :)

Tomorrow I'll be writing out all the little plans. Where to go first thing Saturday, what to pick up, what want we play for a while. What can I exchange. I think I'll only deal with 6 games though. Common CAG practice.

Well, I just got back from my local Toys R Us and they had a pretty abysmal selection. While there were a few games I wouldn't have mind picking up, I couldn't get the prices to match up to maximize the deal, plus factoring in that I probably wont have time to play all of them right away, I can probably pick them up down the road for cheaper.
I only picked up three titles: Rachet & Clank (PS3), Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3) and Rock Band 2 (360).
Dead Space drops this week, so I might go back and get that with Disgaea (PS3) and Force Unleashed, but looking at the other [more important titles to me] coming out this fall, these games might take a back seat and not get purchased Tuesday.

I'm thinking I am going to go with Dead Space for the PS3, Socom (that headset looks pretty nice) and Saints Row 2 for the 360.
I might swap out Saints Row 2 for Buzz instead, but I'm not certain yet.

While on a 5 mile walk, I decided that come Tuesday, I'm going to trade back Rachet and Clank for Dead Space (360). I want Dead Space a lot more and R&C has been out for, what, almost 2 years now? Surely, it will get a $20 price drop after this holiday season. Maybe it will become a $30 Greatest Hit!

I picked up Uncharted, Infinite Undiscovery(was on sale), God of War PSP, and Final Fantasy Tactics PSP (since it was only 10 bucks). Overall a pretty good haul, I think!

I just bought a game from TRU on the 11th, hopefully they will let me take advantage of this on Thursday when I go back into town.

It's been less than a year from when Tools of Destruction came out (Oct. 23, 2007).

I've been w/o Internet access for the weekend, so this is a little late. TRU is also having a 40% off sale on Wii accessories (excluding remotes/nunchucks, but including Wii point cards). I got 2 2k cards for $26 plus tax. Hurry! The deal ends today. (Sunday & Monday exclusive deal)

For the record, I just called and asked if I could use this deal and exchange two of the games at a later date, and was told as long as they're not open, I can do whatever I want. So I'll be picking up Dead Space tomarrow. :)

I'm so weak. I just got back from Toys R Us to try to swap Ratchet and Clank for Dead Space, but they didn't get Dead Space in yet. So i start perusing the ailse and see that they got additional re-stocks of games that weren't there Sunday. I ended up getting 7 more games.
Okami (Wii), Crisis Core FF7 (PSP) and for free God of War (PSP)
Sonic RPG (DS), Professor Layton & the Curious Village (DS) and for free the new Kirby Game (DS).
They also had Geometry Wars Galaxies (Wii) for $10 in the bargin bin. At that price, I had to get it.

They came through! The harpies at the front desk kept telling me they were getting copies of Dead Space next week, but wonder of wonders they were wrong. Gift reciept = Win (also easy exchanges).
