So does anyone know of any sites that are blogging this? It's at 11 AM Pacific/2 PM Eastern. Before I wouldn't have cared, but now that FFXIV is out there, I'm curious to see if they talk any details.

Maybe G4? I don't know. It doesn't look like the usual suspects are streaming it.

Square Enix recently added their press conference to the E3 2009 schedule, but what will they reveal? We're likely to see more on Final Fantasy XIII, but you can bet Square Enix isn't stopping there.http://e3.g4tv.com/e32009/index/

But yeah, I'd like to find a live blog for it...

Do not give them ideas. Next you'll be looking for MySpace profiles and round the clock MTV coverage.

Hey Goron, are you still playing FFXI right now? I remember you and Gorvi discussing it in the Weekday gamer threads. Did you ever manage to get your subjob?

Goronmon

I do have an active subscription, though I haven't really played since I need to put the time into to do my first grouping to get high enough to do the subjob stuff.

Man, I hope it's on 360. If not I'll either need to buy a second PS3 (really don't want to do that) or a gaming PC in order for my wife and I to play together. :(

Good move imo. A lot of FFXI players have an emotional attachment to a particular race. (Especially the Taru players)

Cross-territory and cross-platform servers again this time around. Excellent.

Edit: Beta to test it all

Ug, who's asking these questions. "Will you accept feedback from FFXI users?" No, Square is just going to tell them to be quiet... (even if it's true, they wouldn't publicly say that)

Cyndair
06-03-2009, 01:12 PM
They won't speak on the combat system at all but I wonder if they'd say anything about a job system.

Finally a decent question...

(Q: Is there any special element in the MMO genre that you will improve with this game? )

Edit: Haha, and the answer is PR talk for "lots of stuff, really".

Vague answer unfortunately.

I used to carefully apply taru speak where appropriate in all my in-game conversation. I really should start that up again.

"Q: Yesterday's trailer that was shown, was that running of a console or was it pre-rendered?"

Um, pretty obviously pre-rendered, whether it's playing off a console or not.

"A: There were parts that were pre-rendered and parts that were running on the in-game engine. "

"Q: Is that the quality you're aiming for? The scene with the Galka fighting, is that what you're aiming for?"

"A: Yes, that is the part that was running in-engine."

Different job system. That actually makes me a bit worried.
Yeah, me too. I'm fine if they tweak it, but the current system works very well as it is. I don't want them to get rid of subjobs or anything.

Man, they'd better not make this a free to play microtransaction game. I know they say TBD, but that would suck if they went that route.

Wraith
06-03-2009, 01:33 PM
Q: I've been seeing information that the title is free to play, is this true?

A: No pricing has been decided at this time. It is still TBD. Why didn't they just say "there will be a monthly fee, but pricing has not been decided"? I mean, I'd love to see it free to play, but it's not going to happen...

Question - If I am new to MMOs, why would I choose FFXIV over all the games that are already on the market?

Answer - The world and the story. They believe theirs stands out.

So I guess the gameplay is going to be the same as FFXI and every other MMO.

*sigh*

Goronmon
06-03-2009, 01:36 PM
Yeah, a lot of it was just the normal MMO "fluff".

Suave Peanut

So here's what we know:

it is essentially a current-gen replacement for FFXI
no PlayOnline
there will be a beta
releases in the future.

Since FFXI on 360 does have Achievements, yeah, it's pretty safe to say that if you want your fix for little meaningless thingies popping up on screen every once in a while it'll be there. ;) :p
