Not sure if this is really the right forum for this, but here it is. The new RoTF toys are just starting to hit the shelves, has anyone picked up any? Last night I went and got a Ransack (Scout) and a Breakaway (Deluxe). I really only intended to get Ransack after seeing Vangelus review it, and hadn't even heard of Breakaway before I saw his packaging. One look at the robot form on the back told me I had to have him.

Vangelus hasn't done Breakaway yet, and I don't really like the other video reviewers, so here are some pics that other people have taken (note that the American version is the one with blue instead of chrome):

/toy has taken to referring to him as DAWWWbot, for obvious reasons. His cute-factor was a big selling point, I think it might be impossible to leave him on the store shelves with him staring at you with those eyes. There are apparently two versions floating around in America, a lighter one, and a darker one (sort of like the one above, but with the chrome still replaced by blue). I think maybe the Takara version will have the chrome on it, so I might have to end up importing one.
Mine only had one noticeable flaw, and it effected all the other Breakaways on the shelf as well: His head was cocked to the right. It is really hard to move his head, as they apparently didn't intend you to, but I did get it to face straight by moving it around when he was in vehicle mode.
Both figures have cool, Gerwalk-like features to them. I really like the way that Breakaway looks sort of ape-like almost, as it is very true to the way the characters move in the movie. With his large feet, I can get him into some cool poses, where one foot is most of the way off the ground, as if he were walking forward. The arms have really good range of movement as well, and lots of articulation in all the right places.
The cockpit top can be positioned in many ways. It can act as a sort of visor, it can hang back a bit, it can go flat, or it can stay closed. They all look good in their own way, and it is a nice bit of kibble that adds character to the toy.
His plane mode is really solid, and has no trouble holding itself together. As far as jet Transformers, he has some of the least noticeable robot features in the vehicle mode (though, his face is still looking out the cockpit). Ransack has a nearly-perfect vehicle mode, with the only robot parts visable being his hands. In vehicle mode, he is also really, really solid (much more so than his lanky robot mode). One thing I like, which Vangelus didn't mention, is that you can have his head peak out in vehicle mode, to where you see nothing but his Terminator eyes.
Anyhow, that is enough of me rambling about toys. Has anyone else picked any of these up? Any interest in them? I've heard that Breakaway and Sideswipe are the toys to get out of the first wave. Bumblebee and Soundwave (another one of those I transform into a mess of plastic bots) looked pretty shitty, IMO.
I picked up:
Deluxes
Sideswipe
Chromia
Soundwave
Wheelie
Rampage
Scouts
Ransack
Depthcharge
Voyagers
Starscream
Demolisher
The Fallen
Leaders
Optimus Prime
Megatron
My girlfriend bought me the leaders for our anniversary. BTW, greatest girlfriend ever. I like all them except for Chromia and I only bought her on the promise of her combining with the other bikes that will be coming out. The Fallen is a good action figure. I don't think I'll ever transform him, his alt-mode looks like a Cybertronian orgy.

Zero, I am insanely jealous.
I want megatron and Optimus...but I don't think I could justify $100 for those.

I saw some and like the slightly different colors from the first go-round. Megs turning into a tank is pretty cool, too.
Yeah, I don't know how to judge the Megatron. I guess I should just compare him to his first movie toy. Which makes him completely awesome. But the first movie toy was super shitty. The only thing I would change about RoTF Megs is his cannon arm. It needs more articulation.
The Optimus is un-goddamn-believable. His proportions are pretty accurate to his CGI model, compared to the bulkiness of the first movie toy. If there's one toy you should buy from the line it's the Leader Class Optimus. If there's two get Voyager class Starscream. Unless you can wait until fall 2010 for the Leader class version.

There's actually a fix for this on Youtube in case you ever want to make the time or effort.

Yeah, did that like the second day I had it. It is easily moved about now. Breakaway also seems to be some people's favorite new mold for RotF, I'd really recommend picking him up.

I have a fuckton of Transformers stuff from the 80s and 90s, with some rather gaping holes though.
I never really got to see the show (thanks Australia!), so I never had any real priorities as to who to get. As such, I have one Optimus with almost no articulation, no Megatron and I'm pretty sure I'm without a Starscream. So yeah, might be time to remedy this.
Are the ROTF toys really worth it compared to other lines? What I've seen of them aren't that impressive but then I have no idea what I'm looking for. Megatron's gimp arm creeps me the hell out too, flames on Optimus still annoy me as well.

Some are good, some are bad, and a lot of it depends on whether you like the look of the movie Transformers to begin with. The best Deluxe class figures in the RoTF line are, from what I understand, Sideswipe (http://thespotlightreport.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/rotf-sideswipe.jpg) (not Sideways) and Breakaway. Some people like Rampage as well, but he is a weird figure, and so that is a matter of taste.
Check out 4chan's /toy board sometime, lots of discussion on the RoTF line right now. Personally, I don't buy a whole lot of Transformers. I had one toy from the Cybertron line, and four from Animated (I love the Animated line though, and would like to pick up more). I don't really have a lot of space to keep figures, as I already have plenty of toys floating around, but I'm really happy with my Breakaway purchase, and plan on picking up at least a couple more Deluxes from the first line of RoTF.

I love Sideswipe. It's a little hard to get him to stand up, but he's dripping with a lot of neat little details. Rampage has a big backpack and the packaging isn't clear about how he is actually four-legged. I like him, though.
(I love the Animated line though, and would like to pick up more).
The Animated line was recently cancelled, so I'd try to find what you want soon, unless you don't mind paying a bit more through Ebay. Hasbro is going to put out the last few molds as possible store exclusives and maybe even incorporate them into the Universe line.

I do kinda like all the worky bits of the movie ones (perhaps not some of the faces though). I was just going to get Optimus and wait to see what Leader class Starscream is like but that Sideswipe looks fantastic... dammit.
And jesus, store exclusives? Just how mad have toys gotten since I've been away?

Yeah, I'm aware of that. Unfortunately, stores around here never seem to get much in the way of Animated figures, and I only want a few specific figs anyway. Never even seen a Wreck-Gar in the wild.

Ah, well let me know if you want me to keep an eye out for anything in particular. I go toy hunting very frequently and I don't mind picking something up for you, as long as I'm not short on funds.

Naa, that is okay, part of the fun is finding them in the store, IMO. I appreciate the offer though!

Ding. I grew up with the toys, and some episodes of the show as a kid. Scene the first 10 though semi recenlty, and I love them. Devastator has always been a favorite, even though I've never seen an episode of him. My brother has a full G1 one.

Uh... the news isn't so great with that one. There's going to be a $100 dollar Devastator. But he only has his combined mode and the individual vehicle modes. The individual vehicles DO NOT have a robot form. But there is gonna be a tiny one composed of the Legends class ($5) if you really want one with combined, individual bot, and individual vehicle modes.
This is the Supreme class one. (http://www.tfw2005.com/resources/attachment.php?do=fullview&attachmentid=9738)

If you ever want to do something fun...you can go looking at walgreens and dollar stores. There are a ton of cheapo ripoffs still out there.
I had two of them I bought off of ebay for a while, but then they broke or something.

I'd have to get the cheap-o one then, don't you dare give me a transformer that's 75% awesome...it's all or nothing you sons of bitches

I'd get the big one if I ever found him on clearance for like $50 or so. But no way in hell I'll pay $100.

Slight update on my Animated collection: I finally picked up Blackarachnia today. She is one of four figures that my local Wal-mart still has on the shelves for the Animated line, and I expect that they won't be getting anymore. She is a great figure, with tons of crazy articulation. Her neck and head are particularly cool, because she can go into this very spider-like skulking posture. The only complaint I'd have is that the ball joints are too stiff, especially on her elbows.
Now if only I could find a Longarm Prime... and maybe an Ultra Magnus. It is a shame that they never got around to making an Omega Supreme figure.
Glad you brought this thread back up. I picked up ROTF Ravage, Mudflap, Scalpel, and two of the Burger King toys today.

I actually like Soundwave; he looks much cooler in person than in pictures. I'm surprised he didn't get a Voyager Class toy, though. Or is that still coming?

having now seen the movie I can see why they did devastator this way.
I'm actually okay with this toy as built now...
The one RotF I want right now is Stratosphere. He looks pretty awesome from this video review, and the mini Optimus is awesome. I only wish he'd transformed and maybe fought Devastator in the movie. Would of been more interesting than just a rail gun.
