Beatles: Rock Band led off Microsoft's press conference, and there were a few nice revelations. Yoko Ono, Olivia Harrison, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were all on stage, but they didn't actually reveal or say much.

First off, the Harmonix house band was playing the game, and they had 3 vocalists, 2 guitarists and 1 drummer. This seems to confirm that you can use multiple vocalists, although we don't yet know the maximum number. Next they showed off the entire opening cinematic, as well as set pieces highlighting all of the Beatles' different periods.

Next they revealed 10 of the 45 songs shipping on the disc.

Saw Her Standing There
Want to Hold Her Hand
I Feel Fine
Day Tripper
Taxman
I Am The Walrus
Back in the USSR
Octopus' Garden
Here Comes the Sun
Get Back

The full Abbey Road album will be available as DLC soon after the game's 9-9-09 launch. "All you Need is Love" will be an XBL-exclusive download, with proceed going to support Doctors Sans Frontieres.

We should have more on the game, including some images and video, shortly.

I love that they can say this about a band that existed for 10 years. :)

If "All You Need Is Love" is more of a charity download, why does it need to be exclusive? That just seems like a dick move more than if it was just an exclusive track that was for profit.

I was fairly excited for this game until I saw the video and - holycrap! - HARMONY VOCALS. Now I've gone from "fairly excited" to "must have now please thank you yes". Harmony vocals were my single biggest Rock Band dream feature, and I can't wait to try them out.

(My preferred way of playing RB solo is to play guitar and vocals simultaneously, but I never get to do that when friends are by. If I can sing a harmony part while someone takes the lead...that's just awesome.)

I just youtube'd the trailer. Holy crap! So excited. So, so excited.

So they release a game entitled Beatles Rock Band but at nearly the same time the game comes out they have an entire album of Beatles music to download? What the hell's the point of releasing a full-fledged game? Why not just make it all DLC?

I'll never understand these games.

Um...why is Abbey Road DLC? Put it on the fucking disc.

It's DLC so they can charge you another $20-$25 for it (we don't yet know what DLC pricing for Beatles Rock Band will be). That simple. The only difference between this and the extra costumes in SFIV is that people will actually want this DLC.

I love the Beatles, but I'm pretty burned out on new band games. I've got a ton of DLC and RB1 and 2, and a game where I can play nothing but Beatles songs doesn't really sound all that appealing.

Oh, I get why it's DLC. It's just stupid. It's like they're doing everything they can to make me not want this game that I really want. They aren't letting me pull the tracks into RB2 (yes, I am still bitching about that) and now they're keeping out an entire album? Fuck off.

EDIT: Only 45 songs on the disc? Fuck off.

45 is actually more than I thought there would be. I just wish they would have given me a little more time between the game's release and the DLC coming out. I'll buy that the moment it's out too. *sigh*

Why isn't there an export key. Can we just give Apple $5 and call it good?
