View Full Version : 4400 gets cancelled, so Heroes steals the plot?

/begin rant

I watched Heroes season 1.

Then in the gap before season 2 i watched the entire 4400 series.

Then i tried to watch season 2 of Heroes. It was so terrible.

So i try watching.. some .. of the new season and god damn, it appears they're stealing all the main plot points from the 4400, and they're not even pretending they're not. I mean they're even stealing powers.. 4400, there was that chick that got mad and then everyone within like.. 10 miles around her died. Heroes has a chick where she gets mad and everyone .. 10 feet or something from her dies.

Lame. Heroes had potential and lost it i think. It isn't the 4400 and they really should stay away from it.. because 4400 was getting huge, the scope that show was about to take on was bigger than anything i've ever seen TV try to do. Heroes TRIED to do some pretty big stuff last season and failed miserably.

and then USA network canceled it.

*sigh*

i bet 1 season of Heroes would cost as much to make as 4 more seasons of the 4400.

And come on. Within the first 2 seasons of Hereos they were already running into characters with duplicate powers. 2 people that can fly out of a total of what..12 people who had powers that were in the plot? 2 characters who can take powers from other people to use themselves? if they do one of those 'balance' things where every good person has an evil opposite with the same power imma kick in my tv.

4400 had probably 100 different people with powers over the course of the show and not one duplicate - some were so original they probably hadn't even been in thought of by comic book writers.

edit: right! plot points.

Heroes.. well.. they figured out how to give people powers! what did they do in 4400? figured out how to give people powers! cept in 4400 it went mass market and thousands of people were getting powers, half were dying, and the ones who thought it was wrong wanted to kill off everyone with powers? sound like a possible plot twist for Heroes? maybe!

time travel? sure lets have 9 versions of the future all of a sudden. 4400? yep, while not quite 9 versions of the future, the whole thing happens because of time travel, and there some episodes where they bounce from future to present.. same as Heroes has done.

Cancel Hereos and bring back my damn show!

Agreed. Heroes is a poor mans spin-off of the 4400. But most people will never realize that.

I miss the 4400, that show rocked. I wish they would make a 5th and final season.

The 4400 was good, but could be iffy, at times. Same goes for Heroes... but more so. I ended up dropping both, though I stuck with the 4400 significantly longer.

To be honest, the only really stand-out part of Heroes was Hiro; they need to cut down the cast a bit, and just focus on the cool time traveling Japanese dude.

Please don't put spoilers (or potential spoilers) in thread titles. There's no way to avoid them.

Thanks!

I hated the 4400. And I love Heroes (although I'll agree that it's pretty stupid).

To each his own, though.

I though 4400 was mediocre and at times just bad. Heroes started out awesome and then turned crappy for the second season on.

I was a big 4400 fan also. I would trade Heroes for 4400 any day.

If you know the general plot to 4400 (which I do) but don't know what's happening yet in Heroes (which I don't here in the UK) then the title on its own suggests a possible spoiler as to how the new season might unfold. No biggy.

I hadn't realized how similar Heroes and The 4400 are until now. Unfortunately both started great and became progressively more mediocre as time went on.

4400 downfall was really the whole isabella story line. it felt forced and contrived for half of season 3

But the 4th season really turned it around.

saying heros is ripping off the 4400 is like saying.... i don't know... one typical fantasy book is ripping off elfs and orks from another when clearly elfs and orks are all ripped off from lord of the rings.

I never really got in to the 4400 but from what i have seen and the plot points brought up here they are clearly standard comic book and super hero ideas... anything the 4400 did will have been done somewhere in some form by marvel or DC and the idea that two shows with such similar concept tend to use the same plot points when those plot points are often the ones best suited to translation to TV... well... its not at all shocking

It's also a fact that heros simply like to take well established plot ideas that there fans of the show will know and either use them in novel ways or twist them or as some kind of understandable counter point... so there is likely to be nods to 4400 if you look hard enough.

I'm not saying one is better than the other i'm just saying that that both shows have a common source there both ripping off and so it could easily be that they where aired the other way around and some one would be saying 4400 ripped off heros beacuse the main plot points for both are drawn from superhero films and comic books

The 4400 had something that Heroes can never replicate...

Ok, I am so going to have to get the 4400, I had heard great things about it before, and I think I may be one of the few people that thought Heroes was over rated. And I totally didn't buy that crap that the man responsible had never read a comic.

Agrred. 4400 was really hit and miss, mostly hit but sometimes...man it was the very definition of suck. To bad they canceled it though.
