God, I love Sunday mornings. The sun is bright, the birds are singing, and all the idiots are outside bashing their dumb, dumb heads with sticks.

Here's how I started off my day:

Never tell your password to anyone.
Automated Message: Never tell your password to anyone.
MESSAGING SYSTEM: Automated Message: Hello, we have identified two or more IP's logging on to this account. This may be due to a hacker or keylogger. In order to ensure the safety of your account and verify your information, we ask that you send your Steam username and password to our secure inbox at STEAMVERIFICATION@live.com. If you do not verify your account within 24-hours, your account and Steam service will be terminated. Once the verification process is complete you will receive an e-mail from Steam Verification with your new account login details. Thank you for your co-operation
Spectre-7: Hahahahaha!
Spectre-7: Fuck off.

Spectre-7: Strange that the automated message has been playing guitar for almost seven years, don't you think.
Spectre-7: Idiot.
Spectre-7: BTW, you've been reported to Valve.
Spectre-7: Die in a fire.

Spectre-7: So.... are your parents first cousins or something?
Spectre-7: Or did you just eat paint chips as a wee tyke?
Spectre-7: Maybe you suffered some sort of massive head trauma. Did your parents drop you intentionally?
Spectre-7: Hey, have you ever tried to suck your own dick?
Spectre-7: It's totally possible.
Spectre-7: Don't believe any of that bullshit about people accidentally snapping their own necks.
Spectre-7: It's just propoganda, like masturbation making people go blind, or get hairy palms.
Spectre-7: You should totally try that.

Sniffle. He stopped playing. :(

Here's his SteamID page, in case anyone else would like to torture this jackass. -- http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197992320571

Happy Sunday, everyone.

Can we report this guy for his name, even without being directly harassed by him? I'd love to see his account banned.

I wasn't joking... I actually did report him to Valve. Opened a support ticket explaining the situation, including the text of his message and a link to his SteamID page. :D

Not that Valve makes it easy to report this shit. *sigh*

Not sure how he got on my friends list, though. I'm usually pretty good about only accepting folks that I've played with.

Oh, I never doubted you reported him; just wondering if the rest of us should as well, without actually having been subject to his pathetic phishing. The fact that he uses his account, that he bought games on, to try and steal people's info is hilarious, and I'd love to see him lose all those games.

Oh, my bad. :)

The only way I know of to report these is through Steam support, which requires you to sign up for its own account. From there, you need to open a ticket and wrestle through the mess of drop-down menus until you find something that vaguely approximates what you're trying to report. Phishing scams are sadly not one of the options, and the closest matches are for people whose accounts have already been hijacked.

Customer support is one of the precious few things Valve is still getting wrong.

Steam Tip 103: To report Misconduct violations for users who pretend to Valve. Go to the community page of the users you are trying to report (through Steam not through the web)

On this page, just below the search box is a "Report Violation" drop down menu.

Then you can choose the option User misconduct, and that'll let Valve know.

Bah... it doesn't give you any space to explain what they've done, and just says, "Thank you for reporting offensive content and helping to keep the Steam Community clean and friendly. Buy yourself some cake, you deserve it."

Steam Tip 513: Fail button is fail.

I was just letting you know how Valve likes people to report account hijackers. They've said many times on their forums that if someone pretends to be valve or VAC, to report them via that button.

My guess is they have a quick look at logs for users reported multiple times and see if they're infringing.

That was it? I was kinda disappointed, I was hoping you'd lead him along an elaborate goose chase (http://www.419eater.com/).

Odds are that it was some other person's account at one point that had been hijacked and this is what that person is doing with it.

On a side note, my Steam account was hijacked (I still have no idea how, as I go nowhere fishy, I have Steam auto log in, and I'm generally pretty safe with information), and Valve got that back to me in no time. I was pretty happy with my customer service from them. All I had to do was scan the CD key for a game I had registered with Steam and fire it off to them to recover my account.

And people wonder why I do not want to place all of my faith in digital gaming. I can at least shoot some retard trying to walk off with my hard copy of Half Life.

I'm assuming he's underage, because pot is pretty cheap.

Also,
