[E3 09] Sony Press Conference, June 2nd 11am PT/2pm ET

This is the thread to discuss the happenings at the Sony Press Conference on Tuesday, June 2nd at 11am PT. This thread will be closed until right before the conference starts.

This thread will run much like last year where I will be updating as the presser goes on. Feel free to discuss about your feelings in this thread.

Below is also Scott's (Psykoboy2) live Twitter Feed (http://www.twitter.com/coge3) as well as the general CoG Twitter feed (http://www.twitter.com/colonygamers) that Mike (DoctorFinger) will be updating live. UPDATE (6/2): You probably won't see Scott's feed update until after this press conference today when he starts with his meetings with companies. He decided Tweeting while on questionable WiFi at the various locations just didn't work well. Follow the general one above for Press Conference coverage as well as this thread.

These feeds will be absent from the thread itself a bit after the presser is done so as not to confuse people on what the live Tweets are covering. My own predictions of what will be shown is in the next post.

My Sony Press predictions:

1. Numbers will come up first. Sony has the habit of letting the numbers game go on for too long in recent E3 history, so possibly expect that. Not sure what numbers they will show off, but they do a good job of spinning it.

2. Obviously, the PSP Go will be shown (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=8964). I also expect the Gran Turismo game to be shown as well and maybe given a release date. The new Metal Gear may be shown, but Konami would have to announce it before this press conference and theirs isn't until Wednesday on the Convention floor.

3. There will be a motion peripheral shown off. With EA and Ubisoft having already had their conferences, Sony will have to show it off at theirs possibly with representatives from those companies showing it off.

4. Centerpieces in gaming lineup will be Ratchet and Clank Future: A Clank in Time, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and God of War III. All will be given dates (Fall for Ratchet and Uncharted, Feburary 2010 for GoW). Uncharted 2 multiplayer will be shown off given that the beta opens on Wednesday.

5. Other games shown off will be Heavy Rain, Eidos/Warner's Batman: Arkham Asylum for the Joker exclusivity, possibly the new Metal Gear game...and the rumored PS3 exclusive Epic Games game Horror, although I think the rumors may be off.

6. PS3 Slim may be shown off, although I still don't understand why they might be doing this. Drop the price on your system first is my thoughts.

My predictions for Sony's keynote address

- We already know about the PSP Go, and we're pretty sure that Gran Tursimo Mobile and a new Metal Gear game will launch alongside it.

- Expect some sort of motion sensitive controller, likely in concert with the PSEye.

- New entries in the Resistance, Jak & Daxter and Twisted Metal franchises.

- Spotlights will be shone on MAG, LA Noire and Heavy Rain. God of War 3 and Uncharted 2 will also get a lot of face time.

- DC Universe Online will reaffirm it's eventual landing on the PS3.
