[E3 09] Nintendo Press Conference, June 2nd 9am PT/12pm ET

This is the thread to discuss the happenings at the Nintendo Press Conference on Tuesday, June 2nd at 9am PT. This thread will be closed until right before the conference starts.

This thread will run much like last year where I will be updating as the presser goes on. Feel free to discuss about your feelings in this thread.

UPDATE (6/2): You probably won't see Scott's feed update until after the Sony Press Conference today when he starts with his meetings with companies. He decided Tweeting while on questionable WiFi at the various locations just didn't work well. Follow the general one above for Press Conference coverage as well as this thread.

These feeds will be absent from the thread itself a bit after the presser is done so as not to confuse people on what the live Tweets are covering. My own predictions of what will be shown is in the next post.

My Nintnedo Presser predictions:

1. Reggie will start off spouting numbers (all 3 do this, so don't think this is a rip on Nintendo), talking about worldwide Wii sales, WiiFit sales and games that sold over a million

2. New Zelda and possibly Mario and Metroid games shown off

3. WiiMotion Plus support will be talked about and many games that use it shown off

4. WiiFit Plus will be shown (New game? New peripheral?)

5. Upcoming DSi specific games will be shown (that use camera)

6. Possible new peripheral will be shown (don't know what it could be though, but E3 is the place Nintendo has shown off its new peripherals)

7. Third party games, especially from EA who has embraced Wii development lately, will be shown off to generate interest in those games

My predictions for Nintendo's presser

- Virtual Console games will make their way to the DSi.

- New games in the Zelda and Mario franchises announced for the Wii. One will be released this year, one early next. And one will be a departure from how we think of the property

- Pokemon, pokemon and more pokemon

- A new WiiFit game, (already mostly confirmed*)

- A new Wii* property. WiiFarm, WiiArt, WiiBuild, etc.

- An old Nintendo property - Ice Climbers, Star Fox, Kid Icarus, etc - will be announced for both the Wii and DS.

- Real attempts are made to appeal to the 'core' gamer, but they will still be outweighed by the tons of products for 'non-core' gamers.

Nintendo's E3 booth is literally wrapped up, but people see hints of coins, flowers and question marks. This leads me to believe a new Mario may be shown...whether that be proper, Party, Kart, etc. who knows.

This is terrible again. Now they are talking about Wii motion plus, again, after being vapour last year. This is after announcing Wii Fit Plus.

I can't think of a company that milks its customers as badly as nintendo does with upgrades and addons. Ironically, the Wii was probably the most expensive console by a fair margin once you add all these addons in.
