Anyone else tried this game I tried the demo on steam and really enjoyed it plus Rock Paper Shotgun had a lot of coverage on the game awhile back and it sounded great.

It is on gamergate right now for 12 dollars and I was curious if anyone else has the game, or even heard of it and might pick it up. Just curious to see if multiplayer may ever be possible.

Once I finish downloading and play some I will come back with some impressions but I still think if you are willing to give a WWII RTS a chance you should give the demo a try. It is very difficult from what I have read though, things like each soldier has his own individual ammo tracked, forcing you to loot fallen soldier to keep going is in the game. I still think a try of the demo is in order by just about anyone who likes RTS and maybe even for those who do not.

I played the demo and its actually pretty awesome under it all.

The UI is fairly horrific, but all the stuff seems modelled like the real hardware.
Driving around a KV1 pretty much nothing can hurt you, but you can be tracked, or just as bad, tracked and then destroyed by infantry swarming over you and using anti-tank mines to blow up your gun and take our your turret traverse.

It reminds me of WW2OL. Clunky and ugly, but the rules under it all are pretty awesome. The voice acting is downright terrible though for the story stuff. The in-game killing is fine though. I about died with joy when I saw a Panzer 3F, shot it and watched the dudes jump out. Almost as much as when I shot a P2F in the fuel tank and everyone ran out on fire.

Yes I picked this up on the gamersgate sale, definetly worth the price. The voice-acting really is horrible, but the gameplay is great, I've only done 3 or 4 missions from the Soviet campaign, but 2 of those were pretty epic defense battles.
I love how you can steal your enemies tanks and stuff if you have a repair kit around.

Worst voice acting ever ;) Great WW2 RTS/Strat game however. The difficulty can be brutally hard.

I LOVE this game and wished more people played it. I played through the campaign twice. Pity that Company Of Heroes gets so much love. While at the time that was an amazing WW2 RTS, this trounces it. It just feels REAL. The ability to control a tank at aim at specific parts of enemy armour, taking out treads, loading AP shells and blasting through entire buildings to hit enemies on the other side, etc, is just awesome.

Anyone here try MP yet? I've been trying to convince a friend of mine to get into this. As he's a Battletech nut, I think the upcoming mod will definitely push him over the top. And for $12? C'mon!

EDIT: hah, yeah, definitely the WORST voice acting I've ever heard anywhere. When I first started playing it I had such a negative reaction from the voices that I assumed the game would be low-quality trash. It wasn't until I had played a few missions that I realized that it has just an amazing, highly-detailed game engine.

Wow...I might have to replay the demo then. I didn't like it at all. I think it was the UI...I really didn't get how to navigate my way through everything quickly. I liked that you can find gear from fallen units though.

The demo didn't do anything for me at the time, either. That mission is ok in retail, but for a demo, it just wasn't all that great. Don't let that dissuade you though. If you even liked it a bit, I say grab it as it's only $12!

Well been playing everyday for the last little while I have been having great fun. It has been crazy tough even on medium but overall I am really enjoying the game and am very glade I picked it up.
