[E3 09] GameTrailers TV Pre-E3 Revelations

Just finished watching the GameTrailers TV Pre-E3 show that was on Spike at 11pm ET Thursday night. There were quite a few revelations and I'll attempt to in the next posts put some trailers from them up. Here I'll talk about the major things though:

1. The Joker's playable exclusivity on the PS3 version of Batman: Arkham Asylum looks bigger than originally thought. They showed a lot of Joker gameplay in the Joker trailer that started off the show and we got to listen to the awesome voiceover by Mark Hamill.

2. Dragon Age: Origins is coming out October 20th (one week after Brutal Legend), it was at the end of the teaser.

3. Madden 10 will have online 2-player co-op (yes, you can play on the same team finally). There will be another major online announcement next week.

4. Bethesda's new game with Splash Damage is called Brink and was shown in a teaser with a voiceover and a Spring 2010 date. No gameplay shown.

5. Tricia Helfer from Battlestar Galactica will be voicing someone in Halo 3: ODST

6. The answer of whether Commander Shepard's dead is revealed in the new Mass Effect 2 trailer.

7. Just Cause 2 was shown and looked pretty cool, coming 2010

8. Split/Second looks hot from the people that brought you Pure

9. Blur should not have been shown on TV, it looked like alpha code with slowdowns galore. There will be a story involved in the game though.

10. Need for Speed SHIFT looks interesting, although only a cinematic was shown.

11. Dante's Inferno was shown off, in-engine CGI though, first gameplay video was pimped as being shown July 2nd on GameTrailers TV on Spike by Geoff Keighley. This game looks very much like God of War in look and feel.

12. Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time gameplay was shown. Ratchet has hover boots he can use throughout the game.

13. More characters in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Revealed. Green Goblin, Venom and Juggernaut playable (and some more are in the trailer that they haven't announced yet I believe). Geoff had to say "bitch" after he said Juggernaut *facepalm*That's it off the top of my head. Next posts will have video links to some of the stuff from above.

Me too, but I was figuring a "challenge room" was something like the Wolverine bonuses in that game. This looks far bigger than that and looks like he might actually have a story.

Mass Effect looked just like what I expected, cool, but nothing particularly shocking (that's not a bad thing).
The rest of it looked pretty cool as well. I didn't like the little bit of Just Cause that I played, but I'm open to try a new one. I really liked that Joker video. I'm so pumped for that game.

Because Sony thought py them late in the game and that's the reason for the slight delay. Just Speculation though.

Also, Did I see Patriot in the MUA2 trailer. Does that mean the rest of the Young Avengers might be in the game? Awesome.

Just cause 2 looks great, but I have a feeling that like the first games, this is fun only on paper.

Looks like ass. After Grid, Dirt, Burnout paradise, Project Gotham and Forza I'm trying to figure out why any one would need Shift. Graphically it doesn't look any better than Forza and it's way below Grid and Dirt. If this is truly going to be a sim then it will also have all the same tracks we have raced 1000 times before with all the same cars.

If some one were to cut out the name from the trailer and get rid of all the distinguishing logos would anyone be able to tell the difference between this and any other generic racing game?

For the Joker, I was always under the impression that some of the Challenge Rooms were rather big,
and everything in the video looked like it would fit right in. But maybe they let you play a the part where the Joker busts out, who knows? Either way, I'm jealous, since I only have a X360.

And Spike still doesn't get it. I wish TV execs would take games more seriously.

Nope, I was told by EA that Dante's Inferno would be playable. I was just noting that the video presented was cutscene/in-engine. They (being Geoff and Spike TV) noted the July 2nd thing and I was like, "but what about people at E3 that play the game and take video of the gameplay...wouldn't they be first?"

Then again, maybe EA will ask people to not videotape the game, it's certainly within their rights. I don't remember throughout all the scheduling we've set up for Scott if any of them said he couldn't bring in video or audio recording equipment. EA is not taking appointments, but they are allowing the press and VIPs to go into their meeting rooms to play the games.

I can remember playing co-op with my brother in Joe Montana's Sports Talk Football on the Genesis over 15 years ago. I've never owned a Madden game, but I'd always assumed that was in there.

Madden I believe had local co-op at one time, maybe back in the SNES/Genesis days (I forget). There was no announcement of local co-op (although I am guessing it is there), this is for online co-op...meaning you can play on the same team with people thousands of miles away.

I know we love to rip on Madden and how much it is a "pay for a roster update" type of thing every year, but Madden 10 is basically a reboot from everything I'm hearing. It's something that should have been done years ago, but with a new person at the helm we might finally see something different.

Yeah, could certainly be timed exclusive. The content will probably be on the 360 disc and the DLC will just unlock that. Really don't know though since there hasn't been a whole lot of talk about why the PS3 got the exclusive or anything.

EDIT: The idea behind Alpha Protocol is great, but I hope the execution is done well. I read somewhere they're following the Bond, Bourne and Bauer profiles. All of them suck compared to Michael Weston.
