Lucasarts has announced Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron for the PSP and DS. These new Battlefront games, scheduled for release this fall, will span the franchise from A Phantom Menace to the Return of the Jedi.
For the uninitiated the Battlefront series pits two armies against one another in an open battlefield loaded with vehicles and ships. Lucasarts promises you'll see many of the iconic people, places and event of the Star Wars film franchise in the game. You'll play as X2, a clone whose DNA came from a Jedi Master. You quit the Empire after receiving the famous Order 66, which began the culling of the Jedi. You're a force sensitive, but so is your clone brother, X1, and he's a lot more Empire-friendly.
The PSP version will support up to 16 players in battle, while DS gamers can link up to 4 systems to wage war.
