When Mega Man 9 came to the PSN and WiiWare last week XBLA gamers were perturbed. When this week began and no announcement about it coming to XBLA was forthcoming those same gamers were morose.

Well turn those frowns upside down, because Mega Man 9 is coming to XBLA this Wednesday. The game - which is not a re-issue of an old game, but a whole new game created in the classic style - will run you 800 MS points, or $10.

I think the only way I could get through this is with save states.

No dice. 8 bit gameplay, really.

I wasn't panicked. I knew it would be available a week later... Thanks to Jeremy Parish and the Retronauts Podcast!

Probably the most humbling series of games EVER. Although I'm fairly certain Too Human holds a close second so far. Could you imagine if you didn't respawn where you left off in Too Human?

There are rooms in Too Human where if you die you can't go back....and if you're in co-op only one of you has to die and both start at the entrance.

Where in the hell in the game is that? I've never experienced that.

I know there was one in the ice forest level. Early in the level....if I remember correctly it was just after you did the first jump thing.

Pretty much all the secret areas behave like this. The timed arenas in the Hall of Heroes for instance. The ones in the Ice Forest are much longer.

Well you get save-games but not save states. Also you can accrue 9 E tanks.

I wish they would have given it a graphical update like they did with Bionic Commando.
Oh well, think I'll go give it a shot now.

I have some points laying around...was thinking Braid or Castle Crashers...but old school gaming...damn nostalgia...I might have to do this now...

That's what Mega Man Powered Up on the PSP is for.

Hooray! I've been holding of to the XBLA version. I spent all my points, so I must purchase some more. Might as well get enough for the DLC too, ::rolleyes:rolleyes:

Grabbed the XBLA demo this morning. I forgot how hard Megaman games were. Will try again with sound later on.

I remember playing the first Mega Man on NES...and I started with Gutsman's stage. The one with almost nothing but pits and moving platforms.

I was certain at the time that the game was designed to test how long it took for a sane person to go batshit.
