Some gaming stories are so stupid they make my brain hurt. And then there are stories like this (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=215553), which is so moronic my brain is currently trying to escape my skull in response. Apparently, according to The Sun (http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/bizarre/article2440331.ece), Heather Mills - ex-wife of Paul McCartney - "demanded" to be made the star of Bionic Commando.Capcom’s Bionic Commando is based around someone with a prosthetic arm, so the firm approached SIR PAUL McCARTNEY’s ex because of her charity work with amputees.
But she demanded at least ten times their offer [her demand was in the six-figures range].
A source tells me: “She was insistent she wouldn’t do it for a smaller fee and said the producers should make her the star. The Star (not exactly a bastion of journalistic integrity mind you) claims that she also demanded to be made the star of the game in return for her participation.
According to Mills she was asked to promote the game, and in return she asked Capcom to donate to a charity of her choosing. They declined, so she walked. Mills is, arguably, the most famous amputee in the world right now, so her participation makes sense...almost. You see Capcom has never, to my knowledge, tried to play up the 'amputee' part of the Bionic Commando mythos.
