Gamers of a certain age hold a special place in their hearts for the classic Sonic the Hedgehog games on the Sega Genesis. The relative crapulence of later Sonic games (some of which were just awful)

Yuji Naka, the man behind Sonic for many years, has founded a new studio - Prope - and while their first two announced titles sound a little generic, his statements to Gamasutra (http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=20587) about his future plans may be of more interest. "At Prope," Naka told Gamasutra, "we’re actually planning on making a game like Sonic right now. We want to keep trying to make various kinds of games."

When asked for clarification, specifically whether Prope is actively making a character-based action title, Naka replied, "Yes, that’s what we’re making now."Now this doesn't mean that Prope will be able to recapture the Sonic magic, but we've seen studios and creators leave big characters only to produce even greater efforts (Naughty Dog going from Crash to Uncharted, Insomniac going from Spyro to Ratchet & Clank and Resistance)

The last sentence of the first paragraph is not complete. :D

On topic: I am one of those uber-Sonic fans that keeps playing the new games with the hopes of his 10 year-old-boy memories. The name Yuki Naka used to MEAN something! I'm hoping this could be a return to greatness for him.
