Some lucky fans have been knee deep in the beta for Sony and Media Molecule's upcoming LittleBigPlanet. Creative and enthusiastic gamers have already been making Sackboys, custom levels and even a functioning calculator (http://www.gametrailers.com/player/usermovies/275245.html). And some of them are going to be recognized for their efforts.
1UP spoke to Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans on the floor of the Tokyo Game Show, and he let slip that some of the user created content already completed will be included on the retail disc of the game. That's in addition to the developer-made levels and the user-created content you'll be able to download after release. That's a lot of content. And that includes the adorable Snake and Sephiroth Sackboys (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2008/10/08/tgs-08-sackboy-solid-snake-and-sephiroth-to-join-littlebigplanet/) you see above.
LittleBigPlanet will be in stores on Tuesday, October 21st.

I hope the Little Big Portal level is included in the retail release. Whoever made that level put a lot of thought into it, and it came out AMAZING.

Wow, that's pretty exciting for whomever's levels are being chosen!
Also, I can't get over how cute Sephiroth and Snake look. Snake's mustache is fantastic. I would love to have little dolls of them.

I love how an old (kind of pervy) mercenary and a super evil villain are completely ADORABLE.

So, uh, are Solid Sackboy and Sackiroth going to be included in the game, free DLC, or pay-for DLC?

So we've got Snake, Sephiroth, Kratos and the chick from Heavenly Sword. But where's my Crash Bandicoot?

This is a terrific idea which honestly surprises me that they were able to incorporate into the shipped product, as it seems like it would be really hard to do (what with deadlines, testing, and the like). Wow! Great job! :)

I think the article is being misinterpreted a little. I don't think these are going to be on the retail disc, rather they won't be deleted and they'll still be online when the game ships.

Even so, that's pretty sweet. Seeing as betas usually delete everything...

Yeah the article doesn't say that any of the content is being put on the retail disc. It just says all the content will not be deleted and therefore available for download the first day the retail game releases.
It would havebeen cool if some user levels were included on the disc but if that were the case and I was one of those lucky users, I'd expect to be compensated in some way.

I am super excited for this game. No other title makes me wish I had a PS3 as much as LittleBigPlanet. I'm really envious of everyone who will be playing this in less than two weeks!

I hope they offer Nariko... I like her design so much but couldn't say no to Kratos.

Very fun. One thing that I didn't count on is that each level has a leaderboard, whether it's made by the devs or by a player. That's going to be a nice little motivater to get a better time or get more points.
Personally I'm trying my best not to play much, I want to save that for the retail release.

That's good to hear. So far, this is the one exclusive that's been released that makes me really wish for a PS3.

In little pieces, at the bottom of a quarry, where I left him.
2008, the year of the crowdsourced game. Between Spore and LBP that seems to be the major trend. 07 was the year of the in joke with Portal and Bioshock.

That's pretty neat. I'm getting more excite for no reason. Can you make a Sack Fighter I wonder.

So I am the only person that does not see what the hype for this game is all about? I have seen a few game play trailers, of course, but that was at least six months ago. Maybe I just need to get caught up with information that has been released since then.

Playing the beta confirmed my suspicions. It's beautiful, it's a fun level editor if you're into it, but as a game it gets old quick. Kids will probably love it though.

Gorvi - I was kidding about my DIAF comment.
Just promise me you'll play LBP with me when I finally pick up a PS3 and the game next year.

this would be a neat engine to remake the original super mario bros with.
can one of you beta guys comment as to the limitations of the size of the onscreen real estate you can work with?

seems the stuff i've been seeing on the net has been rather worthless. just downloaded about 6 movies from psn, looks much funner than the net stuff for some reason.

...Someobody please make a Spartan 117 character.
I don't know what it is but I find the graphics very interesting indeed.
I have no idea how it plays but there is just something about how cool the characters look that makes me want to play it.
Wait, you can make your own characters right?

You can... to a point. You can customize the hell out of 'em with stuff you pick up in-game.
