It will have a 13 episode season and one cast member will go. (http://io9.com/5258548/chuck-renewed-but-theres-less-of-it)

I am trying to look at the bright side... maybe that means less filler episodes and more focus on the season plot?

They could just cut out most of the Buy-More stuff, I am sure that those scenes are more expensive than a few spies in a random environment compared to renting out a best buy or however they film it.

But I am not worried about not having a good show on a small budget, Leverage was great and they had a verry small budget.

But yay more Chuck.

I just read this too. Whedon was able to show execs that Dollhouse can work on a lower budget with the unseen episode. Chuck is going to be winging it with the lower budget. For a show that was already getting mediocre ratings I do not see how this will attract more viewers. I guess in this economic downturn they are counting on steady numbers with current fans instead of attracting a new audience.

I have to disagree with this quote from the article you posted, "Here's a cost-saving idea: Lose half the BuyMore cast (Big Mike, Jeff, Lester and Emmett, for example)." I can see cutting Emmett because he was not part of the original Buy More cast and Tony Hale is probably a little more expensive to keep than some of the other actors. But to lose any of the other Buy More staff will be a major blow to the series and could possibly lose some of the fan viewership they are counting on for steady numbers.

Well, with the way they ended the season, they could easily chop off just about anything involving the Buy More. it's not like Chuck was ever really involved there at all. That mostly seemed like filler side stories, which might not be needed in a shorter season. As for the major cast member going away... wouldn't that be Morgan? They left off with him going off to Hawaii, if anything, they'd need to write in excuses why he *would* appear in the series going forward.

I don't know how they would go about making these changes and keeping the same show on the air, but it all fits with the kind of changes mentioned in the article.

I'm glad it got renewed and hope the numbers will be good enough for us to get more.

I love all the other cast members, but if it means more Chuck, then boot em to the curb.

They could easily dump that dweeb that took over the store for a while.

Actually, if I could get rid of a couple of actors, it would be Awesome and Ellie.

I like sarah lancaster, but she's not that good of an actress.

Yeah, I like her too, and I don't think her performances have much to do with that.

It's probably more, the constant cleavage shots.

Awesome is my favorite character, other than the main three. Jeff and Lester were amusing when the show focused on them (Jeffster, Missile Command), and really annoying when doing 'bits' to pad the real story. Morgan and Big Mike can go, I actually like both actors, but the characters are dead ends. I only wish they'd done more with Scott Bakula, so I could make an argument for keeping him over half the other cast. :)

Hey, did you check out those gams during the wedding yoga? Nothing to sneer at there.

Also, a thought I had from the "in other news" post...

...I think the only way they can pull off thirteen episodes is by making the show MORE Buy More-based, not less. I guarantee, more missions inside the store. Ergo, more Jeffster. Thus, more sweet.

I don't want to lose Big Mike, some of the stuff hes in is hilarious and I've also enjoyed a lot of the Buy More stuff. Losing Emmet wouldn't hurt.

I hatted the buy more stuff towards he end. I just couldn't stand it. I also seem to think that chuck needs a break. give the man a better job.

I tried very hard to like that show. But there were too many awkward situations. I would squirm in my seat and feel a strong urge to leave the room.

They should go for the huge shocker and cut Chuck.

If this means twice as much Yvonne Strahovski screen time, sign me up.

Agreed. As much as I like the Chuck character, 2x as much of her would make me forget all about him.

I would forget everything else if she would mostly run around in short skirts. Those legs are awesome!
