Does anyone aside from me play this game? If so, would you be interested in exchanging DS friend codes and doing some Wi-Fi town visiting?

I've been thinking about checking it out (I can get it from work for pretty cheap), but I'm worried it'll be a massive time sink. :|

Have you played Animal Crossing before? There's a big timesink to start off with.. but it gradually becomes an hour a day thing or an hour a week thing in a few months. :)

Friend Code: 2363-7605-0424
Town: Waugh
Name: Nathan

Whenever I play now, I'll keep my gate open. Feel free to wander on in. :)

I play AC every night before I go to sleep.

I'll get my DS out later and get my friend code.

During the summer I stopped my nightly play sessions. Now I'm afraid to turn on the DS to see what state the place is in, and who has moved away. That always makes me very sad. When I get my courage up, I'd be up for exchanging friend codes!

Let's say, hypothetically, I have a town I haven't visited in two years. What would that look like if I booted the game tonight?

Just lots of weeds.

Did you watch "Life After People" on The History Channel? ;)

No, it won't be that bad. But you'll have at least an hour or two of intensive weeding to do, and a ton of farewell letters from town residents. I don't think the social order breaks down or buildings decay... how depressing would that be, to see Nookington's crumbled and vine-choked?

How you need so much information, just to go to some silly town!

Fun-fact: I was riding a train, and I had just bought AC. I look across the isle, and see a middle aged man playing DS. I ask him what he was playing, and when he said he was playing animal crossing, I was extremely delighted! I went to his town, and realized that his house was much bigger and better than mine. I think that was one of the reasons I quit.....

Wow that was a lot more exciting in my head.

I have a pretty big house. I need to finish up my mortgage payment then just one more and I'll have a complete house. I just recently finished turning in all the fossils in the museum.

Is Animal Crossing the game where you can find original NES games to put in a room in your house, to play on your DS?

If by "DS" you mean "GameCube" then yes.

No NES games on the DS version, because they were apparently planning the Virtual Console at that time.

You can transfer the games from the GC *to* the DS, can't you? Or was I imagining things?

Maybe it was the GBA with the link cable? I swear my brother showed me something like that.

Yeah, you are thinking of GCN-to-GBA via link cable.

If he was playing NES games on the DS, then he probably is a wizard.

I thought I might like it better on the DS...portable, a little quicker, you know?

YARGH! This thread encouraged me to start playing again, but I have discovered that my game is missing. I think I may have loaned it to a friend almost 2 years ago, as I appear to have his copy of Kirby: Squeak Squad that he left me in exchange. A prompt trade-back is in order!!

Wait til he builds up his shop and has a 2nd story. You'll really dislike his two protegees, Timmy and Tommy.

Also, if you really want to meet the true dick of Animal Crossing, turn your DS off without saving and then start the game again and you'll meet Mr. Resetti the mole... who can totally wipe your save.

Is that the dude who tries to sell you insurance?

I said no to him about a thousand times ('cause I didn't have the money), then I said yes and he flips out on me 'cause I didn't have enough money.

Such a weird game.

No, the guy who tries to sell you insurance is different, annoying, but if you take him up on his deal, when Redd rips you off by selling a fake painting he'll reimburse you.. he'll also send you 100 bells if you trip or get stung by bees or a scorpion or bitten by a tarantula.

Drop by the coffee shop in your museum after 8pm and talk to K.K. Slider. He'll play a song for you which you get to keep.

I try to turn Wild World on every once in awhile (a few times a month), but I think the lack of NES games from the first Animal Crossing really hurt its ability to simply waste my time. Anyway, right now I've been pouring most of my time into Viva Pinata on the DS (and Xbox 360), and that has proved to be even more addictive, if more focused.

Regardless, I'm still looking forward to City Folk later this year.
