About a month ago, I bought a handy little USB TV tuner and started backing up all my old VHS tapes. Just last night, I came across an old tape that I completely forgot about.
Capcom sent out a promotional tape for Street Fighter II Champion Edition for the Sega Genesis. I have no idea why I got it. I never asked for it. My other friends didn't get it. In any case, I watched it again last night, and I was blown away at how RAD this 1993 tape is.
I uploaded it to Youtube, where as it turns out, others have already done the same. No matter. This is my own personal copy, and my own personal rip job.

Be sure to watch the awesome commercials near the end of the tape. Oh man, I wish life could be like the early 90's all over again....sorta....OK not really.

Cool video but the audio is slightly out of sync. Also, what the hell is wrong with that guys upper lip when he is talking. Is he having a seizure?

Is it bad? It took forever to upload to Youtube last night, so I hadn't actually watched my own clip yet. I wonder if there's an easy way to fix that...

I would only say it's about a half second to a second off. It's not that bad. I've never done one of the VHS to digital conversions so I'm not sure if they let you separate the audio during the encoding process but if it does it shouldn't be too hard to fix.

Ha! I got one of those too, back in the day. Again, no idea why or how, I just all of a sudden got a tape in the mail. I wonder if I still have that thing?

Ken and "Roo?" No Kanga?
Also, I remember those Tiger electronic games. I didn't have SF2, but I had a hockey one which was of about the same technology (took forever to figure out, but once I had it, it was easy to win 10-0), and later, Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune games with expansion cartridges.

One interesting thing to note is that the commercials shown are actually the Japanese commercials for Street Fighter II: Turbo, for the Super Famicom. Note the appearance in the bottom left of the screen of the super famicom logo, and also, of course "スーパーフアミコン” which is a pretty blatant giveaway if you can read Japanese.
I guess not many Americans were into learning Japanese, so I guess Capcom figured they could get away with a little video editing on the logo at the end of each, and call it a day.
