- So Harmonix was also making (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/10/resumes-hint-at-probably-canceled-dj-game-from-harmonix/) a (now canceled) Turntable-based DJ game...back in 2005.
- Capcom is apparently making one PS3 exclusive game (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174157). We don't know what the game is, but that's never stopped us before.
- Footage of Jake Gyllenhaal as the titular Prince of Persia have been posted online (http://www.cinematical.com/2009/05/11/prince-of-persia-footage-kicks-up-some-dust/). The Jerry Bruckheimer flick is being thought of as "the new Pirates of the Caribbean" by Disney.
- SEGA to release (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/981/981538p1.html) Gunstar Heroes, Altered Beast, Shinobi (arcade version), Comix Zone, Phantasy Star II, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and Sonic & Knuckles on XBLA. Aside from Gunstar Heroes, none has been confirmed yet for PSN.
- Noob (http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3174162) may be named as the 1,000,000th word in the English language.
- CoG is sending Psykoboy2 (Scott) to E3, and we need your help (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=7680) to offset some of the costs.

Ugh. I was really hoping that story wouldn't turn up here. Paul Payack is a bullshit artist and charlatan, who routinely delays his estimated millionth English word date to coincide with the releases of his books. There are numerous essentially unsolvable problems with his methodology, and as such, he's a popular target at LanguageLog. You can read some of their postings on the subject at the following:
The "million word" hoax rolls along (http://languagelog.ldc.upenn.edu/nll/?p=972)

There was a lot of speculation that Sega were holding off the Lock-on feature from the Ultimate collection so that they could flog a more expensive version through XBLA. Looks like they were spot on.
I'll still but it as well, because I am a whore.

I don't think a PS3 exclusive in Japan is ever going to se the light of day in the West, probably pachinko or something
Jake looked terrible in that footage. Can't they just cast a real Middle Eastern dude for once.

Yes, because it's the fact that he's white that is going to make the movie suck.
That argument's getting old, kids.

No, it's because he's white and he playing the prince of fucking PERSIA.
The argument is not getting old, because apparently logic doesn't come into the mix at all when money's involved.

You do know that there were white people in Persia, right?
And from that clip, Gyllenhaal is adopted in as a Prince...so it could actually be OK in the context of the story...
Shit, man, if you want to be pissed about the movie you could be angry about the fact that Bruckheimer is heavily involved. Or that they won't end up following the (excellent) story of The Sands of Time. Or that they got Jake G to be in an action movie.
But the fact that he's white is what's throwing you off? Jesus Christ.

Actually, all of that is throwing me off as well, but actually seeing this shit just makes it even worse. I don't mind him being played by a white guy (Ghandi was great for example, but they didn't really make him look white, you couldn't even recognize him). It's the fact that he is obviously a white western male to appease the public and make money at the box office that ticking me off. On top off everything else. I'm the type of guy who never watches a dub of eastern movies or anime just because it isn't supposed to be like that. I hate when devs take a concept and make it more commercial just to rakee in the money, never taking into account the original idea behind it. And the Prince of Persia being white is just like that in my book.
Hell. I also hated him being voiced by freaking Nathan Drake in the new video game.

Phantasy Star 2? I love Phantasy Star to death and all but PS2 doesn't play so well these days, an absolute grind-fest and not enough save points. Needs a fair amount of revamping and of course a graphical overhaul would be nice (not just a dodgy filter). Regardless, I'd probably rather be playing it on my PSP anyway.

Just passing along the news. :) It's also on the Phantasy Star Collection for GBA, so if you have a DS Lite you're set there too. :)

Ridiculous corruptions of words originally devised by 14 year old rejects in a basement should not become official dictionary words! What is the world coming to?! Besides, isn't the far more intellectually superior word "newbie" already in there?
