Even though Tri-Ace has been disappointing me ever since Star Ocean 2, I can't help but get excited about each game that they do simply because I love the way they look/sound. Here's the trailer for SO4 via Gamersyde (http://www.gamersyde.com/stream_8914_en.html). That looks fucking fantastic.

With the 2 PSP remakes coming soon, I think I'm going to try to play through the entire series, then this. That means giving 3 another chance after the remake for 2 comes out in January, hopefully I can get past it's flaws this time around.

This is a prequel, so I highly doubt it. It probably couldn't hurt, though, and really, if you've never played SO2, you should.

It's not an awful game, it's just..... more flawed than the others. The battles just didn't feel right. That's my only real concern with SO4.

It's funny to watch these games battle systems in action. I'm not able to play them but I think this and Last Remnants has some nice direction as far as battles go.

SO3 was not that bad.. just a poor history and a painful combat system.. one day I have to came back to kill the secret bosses form Valkyrie Profile (Freya, Lenneth), and another one I don’t remember) to get all battle trophies.

SO4 trailer images looks very good(At the beginning is it CG or game engine??), but I hope they improve the battle action configuration for CPU controlled characters, putting something like the gambit system of FFXII than the stupid AI training process of SO3.

Man, the guy is named "Edge Maverick"? I honestly wouldnt've thought it could get any worse than a character named Fayt (if you're going to name him Fate, at least have the decency to spell it correctly), but I guess I was wrong.

I really hope this turns out better than Tri-Ace's last few games. They always look and sound great but have mediocre (and sometimes frustrating) gameplay. That looks so damn good, though.

I love the look of this quite a bit. While I haven't really played any of the other SO games (I think I rented one of the PS1 games but couldn't get into it), I'd like to give this one a go. I've been itching for a Sci-Fi RPG lately and been missing Xenosaga some so this too might fill that hole a wee bit for me.

The names are a little silly and the graphics seem to be a lot of the "same" (the characters appeared to blend into the environments to a degree), but that's not a breaker by any means and I'm sure just a small portion of the game/environment.

Looks good to me and looking forward to it for sure. Hopefully by the time SO4 hits I'll be finally finished with Tales of Vesperia.

I found that Star Ocean game I had. It's Star Ocean Second Story. I also found a lot of other PS1 JRPGs that I had forgotten about. I almost want to pop it in my PS3 to see how it looks :).

The first game (the one that was just released here for the first time) on the PSP was pretty underwhelming. It almost makes me question how much I really enjoyed Second Story, only because it's been a long time since I played it. Either way, you should be ok playing either version of Second Story, PS1 or PSP, I think they just made a few adjustments to the new PSP rerelease (translation, voiceovers, a few extras, etc...).
