Given the earlier Ethics of Cheesesteak (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=8107) thread, I figured here was as good a place to share this video as any.

There are so many things wrong (and incredibly funny) with this video that I'm not even going to get into listing them.
So....the question: What bothers you most about the video.
I'll start off. Two things really, the fact that this was a newsworthy story for the local network, and the fact that a woman was complaining about not being able to feed her kids because Popeye's closed for the day.
C'mon, Channel 13 news team. Was it really necessary to show only complaints from African-American customers? I can understand, depending on the demographics of the area, if they tend to outnumber the customers from other ethnic groups. But everybody loves fried chicken.
"We're more disappointed than angry. We've really been looking forward to this day." I wonder if he canceled his vacation plans.

KFC is running a promo through Oprah right now and KFCs around the country are running out of chicken, and refusing the coupons, as well.
Seriously...doesn't ANYBODY eat at HOME any more?
Edit: It occurs to me that, since the promo is through Oprah, maybe she's been siphoning off some of the grub. :D

My wife and I were listening to something about this on a morning radio show here in Seattle last Thursday. We both came to the agreement that it was bad reporting to show only African-Americans. From what I heard the reporters even came out saying that they were concerned that they might come off as racists and probably should have gone to another Popeye's as well which was located in a different part of town.

I completely agree. It's a stupid stereotype and I think it was just bad timing/placement on their part. But you are wrong, not everyone loves fried chicken, you are forgetting our veggie loving kin. I'm not sure how they make it through life without fried chicken but it's apparently possible.

I thought this would be about how evil it is to eat chicken?

Interesting timing. Yesterday, my company had our big quarterly "let's all get together and watch our execs tell us how awesome we are" meeting. With everyone seated in the auditorium, our VP of Sales listed off some of our major acquisitions from Q1. With each kudos, they raffled off a gift package to celebrate the win. A $100 gift certificate from a major Seattle-based coffee company, a supply of exotic nuts from a health food distributor, a set of golf clubs from a sports retailer, etc. Obviously, some of the prizes were more in the way of jokes than others. It was meant all in good fun anyway, since the folks that secured the deals got their bonus compensation already.
Finally, we got to a large chicken processing company. The prize? A huge sack of frozen fried chicken. It was at least 20 pounds of chicken.
The winner? A black guy.
Our VP of Sales looked like he was going to faint as the realization of what kind of faux pas he had helped to set up was going down.

People cashing in on a FREE meal is evidence to you that "nobody eats at home anymore"? :p

Well depending on where its located it might just be in a black neighborhood, so all their customers are going to be black. It would be like if the McDonalds here in town ran out of hamburgers or something, you'd just see a bunch of annoyed white people. Not because black people don't eat burgers or anything, theres just a shitload of white people here and almost no black people.

According to Consumerist (http://consumerist.com/5244273/oprah-and-kfcs-free-grilled-chicken-promotion-what-went-wrong), a lot of KFC franchises are refusing to participate. Apparently Oprah promised to reimburse corporate owned stores, but not franchisees. So franchisees either take a bath, or refuse to honor the coupons.

Back to the Popeyes stuff..
I think the part that grinds my gears is how fucking stupid some of them sound. I think I heard someone talk about it was their right to have chicken?

That was exactly my though. All the Popeye's in that area, and they couldn't find one fucking white person who wanted some chicken? The only white people in that whole segment are the two corpse-pale broads making bad puns at their expense.
Does sort of come off looking an awful lot like one or the other of the on-scene cameramen or the editors were doing a little cherry picking to play for a cheap laugh at a racial stereotype.

Do reporters go to a special training course to learn to speak exactly like every other reporter?
