I really like the "knights with guns" aesthetic, but some game play would have really sold it (or not, apparently). Where's the Splatterhouse footage, Tecmo!? I know it's out there, I just can't find it.

Sigh Indeed Gorvi. If only the world was god damn perfect, that way we would see gameplay footage straight off the bat. Fuck it! The world doesn't have to be perfect for that, they just need to realise nobody gives a fuck about some jacked up trailer that is about as effective as announcing the game over a microphone.

IGN (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/917/917987p1.html?RSSwhen2008-10-09_045500&RSSid=917987)'s Preview:
The basic setup for Quantum Theory has protagonist Syd trying to destroy something called the Living Tower, which you can see in the trailer. It's a large structure lined with spikes and other fearsome architectural designs, and is so named because it's actually an adversary. It seems as you run through it, the tower's layout will actually shift as you play, altering level designs and cover positions. It'll also directly attack you, as well as a variety of viscous-looking enemies.

In addition to Syd, a female character named Fillena will enter into the story early on, and between the two there'll be ways for them to work together to overcome obstacles. We asked whether there'll be cooperative play in the game, but were told that wasn't being talked about.

As far as Syd's attack options go, he's shown with a machine gun in the trailer. He'll pick up different kinds of weapons throughout the game, though we weren't told specifically what. He's also got a melee weapon on his other hand that he can use to alter his attack style, but a majority of the game will be shooting. As the environment changes around Syd, there'll apparently be sections you can backtrack through that will change in their appearance and layout, forcing players to find new ways through.

Much of who Syd is and who he's working for (Kikuchi said Syd is in communication with some outside force) wasn't ready to be revealed quite yet. In fact, a lot of the game seems to be being kept under wraps, as this was more of a first reveal kind of thing than an information blow-out. It certainly looks interesting and the Living Tower setting could definitely provide for unique and environmental challenges, but we'll have to wait and see can check out a demo or get a chance to play.

Online modes are also being planned for the game, though the team isn't ready to get into specifics. According to the fact sheet, players should expect 'matches that offer a variety of winning conditions and rules.' It also says 'choose your favorite character and fight against another person or create your own army and fight against another team.' The team wasn't willing to get into what the 'create your own army' part meant.

Quantum Theory is currently scheduled for release in the second half of 2009.

I need gameplay. But I'm thinking it'll probably be NG with a gun.
