Good thing it is a Disney 2d animated film 8-P.

I'm interested just because it's the first 2d animated film since Home on the Range bombed and Eisner threw away all of the drawing desks.

The film itself looks like a great throwback to the old Disney classics, which is a very, very good thing.

I'd consider it a very, very bad thing. Yay mindless stereotypes, cheesy dialogue, one dimensional villains, you know I could go on but I'll just leave it at "I'll probably hope it bombs"

I hope it doesn't because I love 2d animation and kinda sick of anime.

Despite those flaws, I'd still say that the true classics are more memorable and entertaining than a dozen Shreks, or whatever else Disney's non-Pixar 3d studios have been churning out. I certainly don't think this one is going to be of the same calibre, but a return to the hand drawn 2d animation is something that should be encouraged.

Well, I wondered if there was a thread on this movie or not, and I guess there is... sort of. :p

Anyway, it's my son's third birthday today and we went and saw it. I was feeling a little iffy about it at first, but it grew on me. It had some genuinely funny parts and some pretty interesting visuals. Some ok songs, but they were hit and miss. And......... I'll be damned if I didn't cry at the end.

Screw you for judging me!

I definitely want to see it (for the reasons listed here over half a year ago), but I don't know if I will make it out to the theater to do so. I hate theater going peoples >_<.

Indeed. This must be done.

I feel that...as good as CGI can be, it'll never be as iconic or well regarded as true hand drawn animation.

Yes, yes it will. It's inevitable.

No one looks at the modern actors who mimic Buster Keaton and thinks, "That's how they did it in the old days." A major move that will help the likes of Pixar is that Best Picture Oscar can get 10 nominees now. In the next couple of years, Pixar is going to begin to consistently sneak on to the ballot.

I think there will always be a place for 2D animation. And Beauty and the Beast got on the Best Picture list when it was 5, something that Pixar's films still haven't done.

I saw this movie opening day, and the last Pixar movie I saw in the theaters was A Bug's life.

As for the Princess and the Frog, I felt the music was fantastic, but no mega-hit catchy songs. The two best were "Friends on the other side" and the one sung by the bayou witch.

I really enjoyed it and so did my wife and I love the fact that they (finally) went back to 2D animation and also stopped pumping out sequel after sequel and running their properties further into the ground.

In truth, my only complaint was that I felt as though the villain was underused and had a good deal of potential that was wasted. I love the art direction for him especially (though honestly I felt like the art direction was wonderful in general) which left the door open for some fantastic villain moments only to be let down. Dude had Darth Maul syndrome.

Other than that, amazing movie and highly recommended.
