Momma always told me, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. With that in mind, here:

DSiWare

Animal Crossing Calculator (http://dsiware.nintendolife.com/games/dsiware/animal_crossing_calculator) (Nintendo, 1 player, 200 Nintendo DSi Points™): Need to figure out what you owe Tom Nook or the amount in your savings account? Animal Crossing Calculator features the full functionality of a traditional calculator, including a Memory key and the ability to display up to 13 digits, adding a layer of atmosphere unique to Animal Crossing. Use the Unit Converter to turn one unit of measure into another (such as length, weight, volume and age), or track the history of calculations you've performed. Listen to the Animalese pronunciation of numbers when you press them, and watch for a favorite Animal Crossing character to appear when your result meets certain criteria. Get ready for an inventive and practical way to experience the charm of Animal Crossing.

Animal Crossing Clock (http://dsiware.nintendolife.com/games/dsiware/animal_crossing_clock) (Nintendo, 1 player, 200 Nintendo DSi Points): Enjoy the atmosphere of Animal Crossing in a whole new way with Animal Crossing Clock. Select from either an analog or digital clock and set up to three alarms (with snooze functionality for those who need it). Make your own Town Tune or use sounds created in Nintendo DSi™ Sound, then assign them to the alarms you've set. Use the system's internal clock or offset the time however you like. Then sit back and watch as different characters from Animal Crossing appear and the color of the sky changes as time passes. You'll never miss an important appointment with one of your Animal Crossing friends again.

WiiWare

Penguins & Friends - Hey! That's My Fish! (http://wiiware.nintendolife.com/games/wiiware/penguins_and_friends_hey_thats_my_fish) (Gammick Entertainment, 1-4 players, Rated E for Everyone, 800 Wii Points™): The penguins are hungry and need your help. Catch all the fish you can before someone steals them from you. Strategy is fundamental in this exciting game. Keep moving ahead of the other penguins so you don't get trapped, and try to get to the ice floes that hold more fish. One to four players can play Penguins & Friends at the same time, provided they can handle the polar cold. The board is made up of ice blocks with a set number of fish under them. The ice blocks are hexagonal and form a structure like a beehive. The starting position of the ice blocks can change, creating different game boards.

Virtual Console

Tower Toppler™ (http://vc.nintendolife.com/games/c64/nebulus) (Commodore 64, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Weird things are happening on Planet Nebulus. Someone or something has begun building huge towers on the sea floor without a construction license. Your mission is to ascend each of the eight cylindrical towers, passing various obstacles along the way, and to trigger the tower's destruction mechanism to demolish the evil threat. Praised upon its original 1987 release for its graphical innovation, this is considered to be the most outstanding game from Hewson. Don't miss out on this classic favorite.

Enjoy?

I'm sorry, but charging money for the Animal Crossing calculator and clock is just wrong on so many levels. Wrong wrong wrong.

I think there's also a Mario calculator on the Japan store.

Anyway, how about a "This Week on the Apple App Store" post? Joking ;).

Wow, they're really innovating with that DSiWare. Really.....

This is almost insulting IMHO.

BTW, and I loved by C64 to bits, but charging $5 for a C64 game is worse than a $2 Animal Crossing clock IMO.

Starting to regret that DSi purchase. Really. I could have had a PSP instead... what was I thinking?

Why don't they release some useful Animal Crossing applications?

Animal Crossing Word Processor
Animal Crossing Spreadsheet
Animal Crossing Presentation
Animal Crossing Database
Animal Crossing E-mail

DSi apps and Wiiware apps have been full of FAIL, FAIL, FAIL. I don't mean to troll. It's just my opinion on it. Years ago when the VC and Wiiware was announced I was really stoked. There's still some AAA games missing on the service.

I think we're not seeing a lot of good, old stuff because this crap is selling.

Of course what Nintendo is doing with their old games and other systems games is HEAVEN compared to the epic failure that is Sony in not releasing their gargantuan catalog of PS1 and PS2 games.

You still want that DSi?

Well, if you're already paying for unchanged ROMs, why wouldn't you pay for a calculator?

I wouldn't.

Isn't it worth it that you can use the voice recorder and sound like any one of your favorite Autobot/Decepticons?

Dear Nintendo,

Stop putting shovelware crap on the DSi and charging for it. It's insulting. There are DSi owners above the age of 12. We would love some NES and SNES virtual console games on there at least.

Somewhat pissed off at you,

Sandman

Maybe it's growing pains?

To be honest, I can't really blame Nintendo; they are there to make money, and given thier main audience now, it's stuff like this that will get them some. It's not too surprising, either, given that I have have to wait through months upon months of crap releases to even find a Wii game worth playing. There will be good games on there, I'm sure, but I expect it to be the needle in a haystack game to find them that decent DS and Wii games are right now.

What I want to know is, WHERE is Majora's Mask? It's been released in EU and Japan, and we here in the US still nothing.

And thus my lack of interest in the DSi continues to be justified.

:oNot so much anymore. The longer I can have my 'shiny new screen' lust held in check, the better, esp. if the DSi store continues to suck as hard as it has.

There's still some AAA games missing on the service.I won't argue on the DSi front but there are some very good WiiWare games out there. The problem is that the lack of demos and overall lack of press means they almost all vanish out of the public discourse moments after they're released.

I have no idea what you are talking about.See, and that's the problem. CC:MLaaK, Lost Winds, B.T.B., even things like Lit... there are good games on WiiWare but nobody ever talks about them and nobody likes to take a chance on most of them because there's no demo to try out.

Beat.Trip.Bit gave me carpel tunnel.

I think that's why.

I agree completely , lots of gems on Wiiware..so far though , DSiware is pure crap...they are doing a horrible job. I love my DSi , don't get me wrong as it blows away the Lite IMO but don't buy it for the DS store.

Yeah, I'm glad the DSi is so well made, I really love the way it feels in my hands. But I did buy it mainly for that anyway.

Hmm, if it's your only DS, well there are tons of great DS games out there. And it's very well built. If you already owned a DS lite I can see why you might regret it. For the PSP, I would wait for the PSP Go anyway, that looks pretty sweet. Still, I love my PSP 2000 :).

meh - I just see this as them trying to get people to waste their free 1000 points on useless crap.

Where is moving memo? That's what I want to know. I saw a DSi brochure over the weekend where it's listed as available. I rushed on line but it is still no where to be seen :(

Those Animal Crossing things remind me of the Poketch apps in Pokemon D/P, except that in Pokemon, they were all found in-game and free.

Shush you! Its like totally not the same. Totally. And its worth every penny to buy Pokemon Platinum so that your Poketch gains a back button. Ooh, shiny!

It costs money to render N64-quality visuals. They've convinced people to shell out for Animal Crossing four times now, so they probably think that the clock and calculator will sell like hotcakes. The sad part is that they are probably right. :p
