Given my ongoing addiction to this device, I figured a thread for best of best applications would be handy. I am amazed that I probably do more gaming on this thing then I ever did with my PSP ( too big ) and DS ( not my thing, except Puzzle Quest ).

So, use this thread to list your best recommendations, as Apples horrid AppStore has a nack for burying good applications, while muddying things up with crap ( Respect points, DIAF! )

WinAdmin - Full remote desktop client. Works a treat using RDP protocol. With this application I can literally run my business from anywhere and frankly, with a 3G connection, its really quite reasonable.

Stanza - E book reader, uses just about every 'real' ebook format and easy to install from your PC, unlike most of the other book readers. Free.

GoodReader - This application is the shit. Its alot like Files and the various other applications that let you store files on your iPhone. Biggest difference with GoodReader is, it supports large PDFs extremely well, of which I have a ton. I routinely read > 100 meg PDFs using good reader and its rock solid. Files on the other hand ( which is really nice aswell ) would routinely crash on 20MB files.

Wikiamo - Good interface to Wikipedia. Fast, Stable and Free.

Mobile News - AP press feeds. Quick and dirty news app. By far the fastest and most stable.

NY Times, Bloomberg & Globe and Mail - The two other newspaper apps I use. NY Times is awesome, but SLOW and unstable. Still, free.

SportsTap - Only sports score app I use/need. All sports, timely, free.

AroundMe - Find shit, around you. Pretty good DB in Canada. Free.

i.TV - excellent tv listings, good tivo integration if you have tivo... I dont. Still free

TruVeo - replaces youtube, way more sources.

My games list ( because there is a thread elsewhere for this ).

FieldRunners, 7 Cities, Orions, iDracula, TapDefence ( get this!! Free and great ), Galcon, Monopoly, Galaxy on Fire and my most recent purchase Elemental Monster TD ( card game meets Tower Defence ).

What apps would you recommend?

Just got bought by Amazon. Which, using the Amazon Kindle app on the iPhone, can only be a good thing for Amazon. I love the Stanza app and I hope a lot of it's interface make its way over to the Kindle app.

This one has a Canadian slant, so its completely different and deserving of a new thread!

What's old is new again.

I really hope they don't screw with the ability to upload from your PC, which wouldnt shock me for them to do ( prevent piracy, all that ). I have a huge volume of PDBs from back in my Palm pilot days, and a few lit from my Pocket PC days, so I pray they dont.

Just be wary of updates and keep a backup of the older version around.
