New episode now available at this link (http://ingamechat.net/audio/IGC20090422.mp3).

We’re in an awful hurry this evening, and we’ve contracted our usual schedule in an effort to flee the studio as soon as possible. Minutes before our recording began we learned we had access to an NDA-restricted beta gameplay session, and that the session in question would expire in short order. We’re nothing if not childish idiots where sneak-peaks are concerned, so we’ve opted for the John Moschitta (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en-us&q=john+moschitta&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) school of podcast delivery. (Not really)

Just started listening to this and have a very strong suspicion about what you've all gotten your mitts on. Which I won't say here since I know you can't confirm or deny but I twittered it to Scott.

If I'm right: you lucky bastards. ;)

To be fair, only one of us is really lucky. The other one is just lucky by association....and living a block away as well.

Fair enough. ;)

James, if you decide you like Lord of the Rings Online, we've got threads going for folks who have rediscovered it due to their recent sale over here (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=7833) and over here (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=7874), and several of us are fairly low level and would probably be happy to smack some mobs with you.

I'm a little late in listening to this, but do you still have this 50 Cent game? It's sound awful, and hilarious.

I'd like to play it with you, if you've still got it.

Also, I'm totally onboard with you guys about Grim Fandango - it's been one of my Top 5 games of all time since I played it, and I don't ever expect it to drop off that list.

I'm not sure yet whether I will suffer through Jack Black in Brutal Legend for its legacy, but if anything will make me do it, the memory of Grim Fandango will.

I do still have it, yes. Does someone on base there have it too?

You know, last night I happened to land on one of the HD channels showing movie trailers and it was an all-CG episode. Well, Kung-Fu Panda came up and I remember how un-Jack Black he was as a voice actor in that film. I mean, he was actually very good, really.

Hope he comes off that way in Brutal Legend.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) no; but I'll be in town two weeks from tomorrow if you can hold on to it for a little bit longer.

I know that's asking a lot, considering it's "Fitty Cent" and all (wow, I can't believe I'm actually asking to play this game--too much Def Jam: Fight For N.Y., Scott? "OOOOOOOOOOOOOH DAVEY! LOOKOUT, DAVEY!" :D); but if you can hang onto this for another two weeks I'd like to come over and co-op it when I get home.

If nothing else, you can say you played co-op on a 50 Cent game after the fact, right? And no one else on the show will have to be so embarassed as to say that they did too. Why do I feel like this will be the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull of videogames?

Well, the game does involve a crystal skull, as a matter of fact. Also, I am not at all embarrassed to play the game. It's pretty fun.

Yeah, that's kind of what had me thinking of that. I heard you talking about the first time that you get to play as the character. Ha ha ha ha!!

It sounds pretty great, but my idea of "pretty great" is sometimes seen as "bad" by everyone else. :D

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! :D

You should definitely hold onto this game until I get home, Scott.

Ravenlock, this is hilarious. Thanks!

I bet it's Champions Online, isn't it?

My guess is that the beta is something, how you say, off the charts?

That was my now-not-secret guess.

Wasn't there a recent Battlefield something-or-other beta also?

I'm pretty sure Diablo III will be an event release, but it's probably not coming out this year. I'm not sure how big Diablo is / was in NA but in Europe it was massively popular and there are still lots and lots of people playing it.

StarCraft II could be coming out this year though and its 11 years of absence surely match up to Halo 2's ending

Diablo is huge everywhere. I think you'd be hard pressed to find someone that identifies himself as a gamer who has not played the game at one time, if he doesn't have it installed on his computer right now.

Quality episode, if short. :P But you guys managed to do it without really sounding too rushed, which is very professional of you.

I've uh....never played Diablo.

I think I remember you talking about that in one episode, and James trying to explain it.

What can I say? You're special. :D

Were you just into gaming on a different platform at the time, or were you one of the lucky ones for whom the game didn't have appeal?

I didn't really do PC gaming until around Call Of Duty.

Before that it was Doom, Wolf, 7th Guest, and Myst.
