A moment of silence everyone, it appears someone has passed. I'm not quite sure who, but with the appearance of a new Gears of War 2 CoG tag (http://www.co-optimus.com/editorial/85/Gears_of_War_2_CoG_Tags_found_at_Co-Optimus_HQ.html) at Co-Optimus HQ it can only mean a fallen comrade.

The CoG tag actually has a unique code on it which unlocks content at a special Gears 2 website.

Curious what's available? Hit up this link (http://www.co-optimus.com/editorial/85/Gears_of_War_2_CoG_Tags_found_at_Co-Optimus_HQ.html) for more pictures, the website link, and the code!

Yeesh.
I'm interested in GoW 2, but not enough to sit through the loading screen for some unnecessarily Flashy website.
What happened to websites that just loaded in a couple of seconds and gave you information?

I couldn't get it to work and gave up.

1. Entered the code...no problem.
2. Entered the subsequent security code...no problem
3. Entered my name...WILL NOT WORK!

:( I fail. I fail, fail, fail, fail, fail, fail...ad infinitum.

Edit: Tried in IE and no go. I give up.

I can't get the site past the popup. Flash 9 says "Movie not loaded" and will not do anything past that point.

Firefox or IE? If not using IE try that. Firefox wouldn't load it for me.

I've got no idea what that ASCII-like picture is trying to tell me. Need a frickin' magnifying glass or something.

Hey, I see you guys found my COG tag. Just let me know when you want to return it. I thought I had lost it forever.

This would've been a really nice picture to post when the site was getting started... Talk about irony :D

Edit:
Not such a good job at resizing...

First of all, that COG tags is totally sweet and, if I could, I'd buy one. Secondly, I got the wallpaper. Was there more stuff at the site that I missed?

There should be 3 wallpapers, 2 zipped pictures, and 2 ASCII pictures.

What I found is that one of the ascii pics and the zipped pictures have a bunch of numbers at the end of the file name. I'm thinking they could be for something... might be a stretch though.

Could someone have the files hosted somewhere for us unlucky ones to download?

You got all those from entering the code? Mine just dumped one of the "ascii" 2of2 backgrounds at me in a pop-up window and that was it.

That is all I saw as well.

I couldn't get it to accept a name. Should it be Nick? Nicholas? Nicolai? Bapeguin?

Or this. This would work nicely.

Thing is it shouldn't ask for a name. The last digit in the code is the letter O not the number 0. After that it should work without asking you for a name.

No problem, glad I could help. Now someone needs to decode whatever is in the ASCII-like art.

This was posted on Co-Optimus' forums:

There's a Gears of War fansite tracking the Last Day developments pretty closely. If you're interested, they have a number of the other codes released to other sites (although they don't have your code up yet). You can find the details in the gears forums at epicgames.

Even without the codes, though, you can find more to download by looking for the red skulls painted on the walls in various places.

It might help everyone find more stuff to download. I didn't click all the thingies on the sides, which is probably why I didn't see many red skulls. I'll do that right now and see what I can find.

Damnit. I found two ASCII pictures, three posters, and one zip file. Oh, wait, it has two pictures in it! A-HA!

I also win.

But yeah, it's kind of weird that ASCII picture number two has so many digits after the file name. And same with the zipped folder. I have a feeling that, at least for the ASCII wallpaper, it's just so you can't just edit the URL to find 2of2.

Those posters are all kinds of awesome. We need to use the "Join the CoG" one here. :)

Of course you know we planned the name of the site to coincide with Gears of War 2 obviously...yeah, that's the ticket! ;)

My, my, that is a sexy shot.

They need to mass produce these so I can buy one.

Hmmm, gold-ish C cogs (Like the one next to the founders names) tag would make great swag.

I second that. It'd be a cool CoG trinket thing.

(Man, I think I'm obsessed with cogs or something. I think it's because I replayed Gears of War recently and have been fixated on COG tags.)
