How many Game Boys did you have? I had the original, a Pocket, a Color, and the Advance.

So that timeline says that the DS killed the gameboy but I've always consider the DS the next gameboy system in the gameboy line; even if it didn't use the name gameboy. Was it official supposed to be a diffrent line form the gameboy or what?

Nintendo initially played it up to be a third type of console in their line up when compared to their home console and the Gameboy. More or less, this was a safe line to give the public just in case the DS failed and they had to go back to Gameboy. Obviously this wasn't the case. Now days, I assume they themselves consider it the evolution of the Gameboy product line, as it should be.

Game and Watch, Original, Game boy pocket, color original game boy, game boy color, game boy advance, GB SP, original DS, DS lite, DSi...I guess I like Nintendo Handhelds :). I have owned a few PSPs too if that makes a difference...

I owned a pocket, Color, Advance, and now the DS. I skipped the Advance SP because I figured Nintendo was just going to come out with something better a couple years later, and I was right :D

That's also why I skipped DS Lite. I knew something better would come hot on its heels and voila, the DSi.

I like my handhelds but not enough to update every single time.

I owned the original (still have one infact), a gameboy color, and 2 GBA SP's at various times.

I had an original Gameboy, after it stopped working we got a clear one (still the bulky kind). After that, I had a Gameboy Color and then I bought an original Gameboy Advance and hated it. I owned like 2 GBA games and they were both stolen. My GBA got the most use for Four Swords/ FFCC.

Had a Colour, Advance, SP then the DS. Never had an original, although I always loved the design and how solid it was. Back in the days of the old monochrome one I was a sega kid and had a Game Gear.

I really miss my old Game Gear.

I remember Nintendo talking about the 3 pillars, but had always just assumed like most that the DS was the successor to the Gameboy line. I would like to see what they had in store as a genuine followup to the Gameboy, should the DS not caught on like it did.

I have 2 originals, a Pocket (Clear), a Color (Purple), an original GBA (White), and 2 GBA SPs (one black, one silver). Well, and a DS original (silver) and a DS Lite (White), but those aren't Game Boys. So all I'm missing is the GBA Micro, something I still want to get.

Whatever, Game Gear 4 life.

Whatever, Game Gear 4 minutes of battery life.
Fixed that for ya. ;)

I had an original, a color, a pocket, and an SP. Somewhere along the way I missed the GBA's first iteration. I always assumed that the DS was in the GameBoy genealogy because it had a GBA slot, and the DSi is just the next step now that the clunkier cartridges are going out of style.

OK, I own a Virtual Boy. I'm just going to go ahead and get that out of the way. You can point and laugh if you want. I only paid 30 bucks for it brand new, however. That and Mario Clash, Tennis, and Wario Land are really cool.

I've owned:

Oil Panic (Game and Watch)
Game Boy Pocket (clear)
Virtual Boy
Game Boy Color (neon green)
Game Boy Advance (platinum)
Game Boy Advance SP (platinum)
DS Phat
DS Lite (White)
DSi (Black)

Guess I'm a sucker though I've never regretting owning any of them. Even the Virtual Boy.

I had at least two of the original Game Boys, a Game Boy Color, a Game Boy Advance, then a Game Boy Advance SP, and most recently, a DS Lite. I'll not be picking up the DSi any time soon.

I also had a ton of those Tiger handheld games, too, if that counts for anything.

Man I had a ton of those! I got the keys sticky so fast though, and the games then became basically unplayable.

I had the original, which my parents bought for me second hand. I had maybe three games for it. Had the Advance, which an ex gave to me, which I played for all of maybe an hour. And now I have a DS Lite, which I use constantly. I'm not upgrading to the DSi.

Yeah, but what a great 4 minutes of pleasure it is :p

I can top you on the VB. I bought one when it originally came out. So if anyone is going to be laughed at...and I still have it...

Nice to see someone else is a Nintendo handheld whore :)

I've only ever owned a DS Lite (black) and a DSi (black).

My cousin used to have an original gameboy though.

Man things have come a long way since then!

Whatever, Game Gear 4 life.

Oh man. I remember having to hold it at a 100 degree angle from my face just so the screen wouldn't do that white glare thing. SEGA was definitely trying to do stuff the viable technology wasn't ready for.

Gameboy when I was a kid.
GBC as a christmas present.
GBA from money made in high school.
GBA-SP in college.
DS also in college.
DS Lite in the year after graduation.

I still have the gameboy, but it doesn't turn on anymore. :(

Original Gameboy, twice, Game Boy Color, Super Game Boy, N64 Transfer Pak, GBA SP Classic NES edition, Nintendo DS Lite.

I really wish I hadn't sold my Classic NES SP. I also wish I'd gotten the red DSL I wanted, as the black looks cool and all, until you use it for like 5 minutes, then it's all smudgy and gross.
