I find myself checking out whatever games Jeremy Soule has worked on. Anyone else find themselves buying games based on the Musical composer?

Alone? No, but when I see that Jeremy Soule has done the music I do give a game a closer look. I don't know a lot of other video game composers. Jack Wall and Akira Yamam...ota? The person who did the music for the Silent Hill series. Anyway, I don't think I'd seek out games based on their contributions.

Not typically, but I did check out Freedom Fighters just because Jesper Kyd did the soundtrack, and that one certainly paid off.

C&C Tiberian Sun. A friend had been playing it and I thought the music was fucking sweet.
So I bought it. Obviously, the RTS elements helped influenced my purchase :P.
Edit: by the way, Frank Klepacki composed the music for Tiberian Sun.

Yamaoka. He was my first guess. While I'm a die hard SH fan, the inclusion of Yamaoka has always been a big deal for me. Probably the closes I've ever gotten to purchasing a game based on music.

After the echochrome demo, I think I probably got it more for the music than the puzzles. I know sometimes I've just put it on the load screen and listened to the music on loop while I study. I wish the soundtrack was state side.

First time i ever really noticed how amazing a soundtrack could be was Yuzo Koshiro's work for Actraiser, and Nobuo Uematsu's Final Fantasy II. Always tried to follow them after that.
Jeremy Soule kicks ass as well, though he doesn't pop up all that frequently anymore.

No, but I did buy soundtracks from games I liked: Rocket Jockey (Dick Dale!) and Pilotwings 64!

This for me as well.

I bought Deep Labyrinth on sale for $6 because Yasunori Mitsuda did the soundtrack. I love his stuff, but holy hell that game was awful.

Not at all. I have never even listened to a game soundtrack, either. I am just not huge on instrumental music; I like singing/lyrics. I do enjoy some classical music (baroque especially), but it is not something I typically seek out.

I bought Blue Dragon mostly because Nobuo Uematsu did the music for it.

No but on the flip side of that, if there had been an official Braid soundtrack, that would be mine and I would still be listening to it.

Quake (Nine Inch Nails). Otherwise none.

No, but Jeremy Soule and Frank Klepacki (the only reason I'm interested in RA3) come close.

I always notice good music in a game, and I can recognize a few composers like Jeremy Soule. However I've never bought a game for the soundtrack (although I have bought plenty of soundtracks because of the game).

Well, I buy a lot of my music games based solely on their soundtracks, if I can hear them before I buy them. Otherwise I just take a gamble and am only sometimes let down.
Yasunori Mitsuda has the power to persuade me to buy games I may have otherwise passed on. As does Sakamoto (the FFT composer).
I sat behind Mitsuda at the first ever PLAY! concert. Well, he was one seat up and to the left of mine. I had to sit behind some schmuck named Nobuo something or other... ;)
Yamaoka was there, in a snakeskin suit, wailing away the Silent Hill 2 theme on a guitar. I met him after the show (along with the other two above), and I have to say he's even cooler outside of the musical realm.

It's the other way around for me: I find myself avoiding titles Jeremy Soule worked on as I utterly despise the man's music. No offense meant to his fans, I am not trying to be a troll but I find Soule's work predictable, boring, repetitive, derivative, commercialized and utterly devoid of any humanity or, pardon me for the pun, soul.
I do enjoy listening to Frank Klepacki, Inon Zur and Kyrill Pokrovski among many others but I've never had the urge to purchase a game solely based on the music.

I bought Braid after the demo partly because of the music, and I kept playing Chrono Trigger because of the music.

I always keep an eye out games scored by Yasunori Mitsuda or Nobuo Uematsu myself. Definitely solidified my reasoning for purchasing Lost Odyssey!

Wow. I know some people do this, but I just could never bring myself too. I even have headphones for my surround sound now so I can blast the volume w/o waking up the kids when I play a game at night.

I'm playing an NCAA dynasty. At this point (our fifth year in), I don't care about hearing the sound anymore. My iPod makes it so much better.

Ok, yeah, that's a huge difference. Sports games, racing games, some arcade style games, I can totally understand doing that. But anything else would drive me nuts.

Yeah, I can't really imagine turning the sound off to play FF12, for instance (btw: I don't know why I quit playing this game before, but it's so good. Having a 360 being repaired has its merits...forcing me back to my ps2).

That's it, I need headphones...i've seen some that have been recommended...but now it's a cash issue...and how much do I really want to spend :D. But a lot of my gaming is in the early hours, so I turn off the sound or real low so it might as well be off...due to not wanting to wake up Ms. Claus...lol. It does suck at times...try playing Guitar Hero with low sound :(. Many handheld games though I just need to turn off the sound...it's either grating or to distracting as I "game" and watch tv :p

If price is an issue, consider these (http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-202-Headphones/dp/B000065BP9/ref=pd_sim_dbs_e_1). We've got them at work and they are very comfortable, with better sound quality than anything else in this price-range. I personally bought the HD437 model (also from Sennheiser) and couldn't be happier.
