Yes, it is a sub-forum of the lounge. Biggest reason we are taking a poll is because of what Goronmon said above you.

Ahh, that makes sense. I tend to use the New Posts exclusively, so
I did not think of that when I voted sub-forum.

That reaction is sorta hilarious to me, considering all the politics threads that have been in the lounge for months. Nothing has changed except for now those of you who don't like politics don't have to sort through the threads.

I wouldn't say CoG is going to hell. The founders had discussion once this flared up and we pretty unanimously agreed to go this way. I'm one that would rather not have any P&R discussion on here, but we were kind of put into a corner with whatever the PIRI situation is. We've tried to keep it as far away from users that don't want to see it as possible.

The regular forum vs. sub-forum question is in line with this. As a regular forum (and still without right side notice on the front page) it wouldn't affect the "last post" link on the main forum list like it does as a sub-forum of the Lounge.

I'm also firmly in the camp that would prefer not to see any P&R discussion. But I'd rather have it in it's own heavily moderated forum after seeing it slathered all over the off-topic board. That just wasn't working.

I'll repeat what I said in the discussion on whether to have a forum at all; COG is supposed to be about the gaming "community", not just gaming. Members of the community are interested in movies, books, and music; we have Screen, Page, and Song (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/forumdisplay.php?f=12). Members are interested in other hobbies, we have Creative Arts (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/forumdisplay.php?f=14). Members are interested in defiling the human body, we have Light Savers (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=180) and The Drunk Thread (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=985&highlight=drunk).

Clearly, members are interested in having threads on Politics and Religion; they kept getting posted despite being frowned upon.

iHap, you might want to check Rule 3 (http://www.colonyofgamers.com/cogforums/showthread.php?t=7562). People contributing nothing but trolling is usually the only problem the p&r thread has, the rest of us are actually trying to have a discussion.

Maybe, I voted for the subforum without realizing it would overwrite the parent forum for posts. Knowing this now I probably would've voted the other way.

Can't it just... not? I mean, is there a way to disable subforums displaying the last post, seeing as that seems to be everyone's main concern here.

Unfortunately there isn't or we would have already done it. I'll do some looking to see if there are any mods now that I have some time, but as it is now the software doesn't have a switch for such a thing.
