Google lab, it seems has taken the bull by the horns to tackle the life-changing menace that is drunken emailing. They have offered a filter to stop the average joe from sending off embarrassing emails while under the influence.

So how many colonists have done this in the past? Anyone ever sent an email while drunk that you now regret? Share your story!

Does facebook count? Cause I totally started coming on to my (female) roommate last semester. It was mostly because she just so happened to be the first crush I ever had, back in 6th grade, and totally wanted another shot at it.

Sooooooo, did it work?

No, cause she was a total hermit. Seriously. Never came out of that room. Kept her dishes in her bedroom, washed them in her bathroom. I am not kidding.

I haven't send a drunk Email...yet.
But it's an excellent idea! Now do a captcha for cellphones, that's where the money is!

I was supposed to send an email with my resume attached for a job application with a well known game studio. Unfortunately, I remembered to do this when I was lit. I accidentally sent the email half written and with no attachment, and I just sat there staring at Gmail with a blank expression. All I could think was....."how did that just happen??"
I scrambled a new email together, but my panic made it sound retarded. I never did get an interview.

E-mail, never. Text messages? Every single night I drink too much. Such as last night. I'm a ridiculous human being

I have not sent any emails drunk, but I have called people, texted people, and sent random facebook messages. Then again, I barely send an email while sober.
THANKS GOOGLE! I was trying to text my designated driver.
...oh nevermind. The radio station I was listening to this morning described this as blocking texting as well. I no longer have a beef with google, I'm now pissed at the morning DJ's for making me look like an ass on the internet. :)
BTW, do people really send emails while drunk? I would think that emailing someone while drunk would be about the 4th form of reaching out to someone on my ways to contact list. I prefer to stand half dressed on their lawn screaming profanity followed up by a session of crying and sobing.

Never email, but just about every other form of remote communication.
Waking up the next day to text messages and voicemails asking you to explain yourself is never fun, but always interesting.

Drunk texting is always a great way to make an ass out of yourself. For added enjoyment don't save outgoing messages. Every morning is a mystery.

Oh God! This! This happened to me, and I wasn't even drunk! I got an email from my boyfriend's cousin linking to a funny youtube video and I wanted to reply with a video of a local minister scratching his balls on telly. I hit reply all and the email went to my boyfriend's entire extended family - his mother, his father, aunts, uncles, everybody! And the older generation here are really conservative. I was so mortified! And he kept laughing at me!

Whenever I send drunken emails I take a long time to make sure the spelling, grammar, and punctuation is correct, and that usually gives me a chance to notice and excise anything insane. Sometimes it pays to be a grammar nazi.

I have a problem with drunk texting as well. It only gets me into trouble. I like to stir the pot, so to speak, when I'm drunk and texting whichever girl I'm currently having drama with is vastly amusing to me.
it's gotten so bad my friends take away my phone

I haven't had my phone taken away yet. But I am sure it is bound to happen.

It's not a bad thing, to be fair. It can save the night from becoming awkward and annoying.

I think we've all been there.
I know that I personally have been horrified to read back through my texts after a night out.
I don't drink so I have no need of a filter of any sort. Yay?

I don't really need this on gmail or anything, but would very much appreciate a similar filter on Amazon and Insound (http://www.insound.com/). "It's 3AM, do you really need to be ordering that?"

Yeah I've had my phone taken away from me many a time. Its not even just girl drama, I just text my friends and weird hours to tell them how much I love them. (Yeah I'm the lovey dovey drunk).

There was a solid 2 months where I had to take my best friend's phone away every time he had anything to drink. It was funny at first but after a while it gets annoying to spend all night trying to keep your friend from making an ass of himself, only to get a message the next morning saying he drunk called his ex after you left and made him promise he wouldn't.
I've honestly never seen the appeal of drunk calling, but I have sent a Drunk email once. It was just to a friend, but it was very odd and led to an awkward phone conversation the next day. Also drunk posting on MySpace is always a good idea.

Is the filter adaptive? I think I'd rather have it remind me to drink if I start sending mail sober.

Something along the lines of "Hello Dave. Why don't you pop open a beer, Dave?"

I told a girl that I was really into that I loved her in a voicemail. Then, in embarassment, explained it away the next day. I am pretty sure I had a good chance until I explained to her that I do not love her.

I've never drunken emailed, though I have dialed, texted, im'ed, blogged, and posted. Oddly enough none of them have caused me any grief, probably due to the fact that roughly only 3 or 4 words are coherent in them.

I drunk-posted numerous times on EvAv. I'm sure I'll be doing that here before too long. :p
