Strategy First has their entire catalog for 50% off on Steam, including Sacred Gold and the Flatout games. Are these worth the money? I've heard mixed reviews for Sacred, but $5 is hard to pass up for the gold version, especially considering that I almost picked it up at Target today for 7.50.

Fuck the haters, I liked Sacred. It was extremely buggy at first but the patches fixed a lot of what was wrong. I actually don't really enjoy most Diablo clones (or Diablo honestly) but I found Sacred to be pretty damn fun. It is extremely open though, as in there is very little direction in the game as a whole. You know what, I am going to buy it for $5. Just so I can have it in my Steam catalog. Way to go Mags, you just convinced me to convince myself to buy a game.
EDIT: One thing to note is that I played the game pretty much exclusively over my home LAN with a few other friends. That might have been some of the appeal for me.

Thanks for the reply total! I'll pick it up this weekend for sure. :)

I never played Scared but I had a lot of fun playing Flatout the mini games were the best part.

I had a great deal of fun with it. Lots of little side quests to have fun with. Like Total said, it's very open. It's easy to wander into a place that's way over your level.
I already have Sacred and Sacred Plus. Don't think I need Sacred Gold! But I am soooo tempted!

There are some other good games in Strategy First's catalog. Ghost Master is $2.50 for those who missed it during the last sale. There are some other good ones as well. I'll look them all of them later.

Steam weekend deals are becoming like a regular monthly phone or cable bill for me, but I get so much for the money they're charging, I'm not complaining. It really is amazing some of the prices on some terrific games. Great stuff.

Bought Ghost Master too just because Mags said the name. Seriously I spend $2.50 on coffee. More than that actually. Quite a bit more than that. Fuck.

I bought Ghost Master during the Steam Holiday sale for $2.50 but haven't played it yet. I played the demo back when the game first came out and had a good time with it. It's a pretty unique concept, and I'm sure it's worth $2.50. If you try it out be sure to come back with your impressions.

I picked up Flatout 2:UC and it's really rather good. Thanks for the recommendation on that one.

I found Sacred to be mildly entertaining, but ultimately tedious.
OTOH, I picked up Jagged Alliance 2, Disciples II, and Space Empires 4Gold and 5 for kicks. Don't plan to play eny of them, but it's nice to have them in my library.

It's unfortunate, because I really like a lot of Strategy First games, but very few of the good ones are on steam.

Which ones are missing? I thought they had their whole catalog on there, but that probably isn't the case.

I went ahead and bought Sacred since I've been curious about it for many years.
Anyone know how to change the game's resolution? edit - nevermind, it's impossible, but I found a config executable that let me turn off fullscreen.

Lint - really? How did you manage that? Once of the prime reason I gave up on that was I couldn't figure out how to get windowed.

Yes, do tell. Low resolution games are almost unplayable without Window mode.

You have to go into the Sacred folder in your Steam directory (steamapps -> common), and there's a config executable. Once you've changed the settings through that, just launch Sacred through Steam as normal. I know for me the game screwed up pretty bad when I first launched after using that config, but the second time it worked just fine.
