Good People:

So I want to sell some my scooter and was hoping to use my AT&T DSL "free personal web page" do so. But apparently AT&T is full of shit, and I keep getting the runaround from them as to how to actually do the damn thing - they keep pointing me to Geocities but it seems to be down (and IIRC Geocities sucks a big bag of donkey dicks).

A quick Google search turns up a myriad of options but they all seem either fishy or full of shit, which leads me to turn to CoG to see if anyone knows of a good, non-sleazy, free web-hosting service; I saw 50 Webs or something mentioned a lot.

TIA

I would just ask a friend with webspace to let you upload a page or two. I can't imagine you'd be using a lot of bandwidth for your purposes.

I haven't used a free web hosting service since I was a lot younger, but I do remember GeoCities blowing.

Are you trying to sell "someone my scooter" or sell "some of my scooters"?

If you are only selling one item Craigslist works fine, doesn't it?

If you are selling (multiple) custom scooters there are a lot of $10/month places that provide pretty decent hosting.

I forgot that I had a domain name lying around via Go Daddy and they have free webhosting if you bought your domain through them.

Inspector: I'm trying to sell one scooter, and it will be on cl, but I prefer to have a brief description on there with a link to a detailed webpage. I did it that way once when I needed to sublet an apartment and it worked wonders.

I can hook you up with a subdomain if you want. namehere.fathomthat.org or something of that sort

Just remember...free webhosting usually means having them insert ads that you have no control over. If you're fine with that, for what you're doing, I imagine almost any free service will do.

When I was younger I used this (http://www.free-webhosts.com/power-search.php) site a lot for finding em. Pretty good results if you're specific, and the options are good.

Google Sites (http://www.google.com/sites/help/intl/en/overview.html)? I've never used it, but it's Google. It sounds like (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2317332,00.asp) you don't get 100% control over the HTML (you can insert HTML, but some tags are disallowed).

Zrikz is the go-to guy for hosting. I can vouch for the man's reliability, helpfulness, and sheer awesomeness. :D

I'd recommend 110 MB (http://www.110mb.com/) for free web space. Fast, no ads, great service, and more features than I think should be allowed for free web hosting.

Just to chime in, if anyone else is interested. I'd give you your own account (FTP) to do whatever with and I can give you your own MYSQL database with phpmyadmin access if you so desire. I have lots of bandwidth / storage space as well.
