Codemasters has provided us with some new images from Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.

This FPS is trying to take a rather more realistic approach to the genre, so one well placed bullet can kill. Dragon Rising takes place on the meticulously detailed island of Skira, and puts the player in the shoes of US Marines and Special Forces as they try to prevent a small conflict over oil from erupting into World War III.

All that, and the game is fully online co-op ready.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising is set for release this summer on 360, PS3 and GFW.

These are the games that are intensely realistic, right? Even more-so than Hardcore mode CoD4 and the like?
I must say, I'm interested.

Kind of. The developers of the original Operation Flashpoint are working on a different series now, Armed Assault, which is a pretty obsessive sim. OF2 is being made by Codemasters and look relatively realistic, but not as meticulous as Bohemia Interactive's games.

ya but i dont play PC games so i could care less about Armed Assault ... but i do want Operation flashpoint 2

I really miss my realistic shooters. Vegas really never did it for me. I used to run a Rogue Spear clan back and the day...we rocked out. Me and this other guy, AFD|Burnout, used to challenge clans to fight just us, 2-8. We wouldn't always win, but we won way more than half the time, and always put up a good fight.

I am nowhere near that good of a gamer anymore. I don't know if it's age or practice, but it is what it is.

That being said, I can't wait for this game since all the other franchises abandoned this.

I LOVED #1 for the xbox. I was surprised they hammered it all into the old system. I can't wait to see this one.

I'm intrigued, but the game looks kind of dated. Regardless, I'll probably be picking this up on PC.

I uh...what?

Although amusingly enough, in those days people would call me a hacker all the time. Not so much in Rogue Spear, because the communities were overall cooler, and there were very few really bad exploits.

But man did it get annoying to be told I was cheating everytime I played Quake 3.
