What is that dark cloud over me? My body is moving out of my comfort zone called my bed? Why am I am being forced to look at my alarm clock that says “it’s not noon yet”? Isn’t this…nooooo…Monday strikes! Another Monday has snuck up and snatched the sanctity all that is good, the weekend. FU Monday, you weekend stealer. Nothing can be done now except to start wishing for Friday again as we reminisce about the weekend glory.

I know I had a weekend but not much glory or much else to report. Even on the gaming side it was still too quiet only playing Persona 3 for a few hours. Somehow the game still finds little ways to keep battling your now 10th shadow boss, tweaking how it’s possible to defeat said boss. And of course the nice plot twist and “dramatic” moment which did take me by surprise. At this point I’m looking forward to the end and possibly freeing up my PS3 to something else.

How was your weekend? What did you do and as always what did YOU play?

Completed Dead Space. Great game, amazing production values, story falls apart a bit at the end, needed a Bioshock style script. Still one hell of a ride though. Already started up a second run.

Some SFIV versus, Killzone 2 with a friend. Killzone 2 is actually a lot more fun when passing along the controller, cause you're basically just doing the same thing over and over again. Gives you some time to breath and admire how the freaking thing looks. Still think the story stinks though.

Started up Persona 4 and already lost 5 hours to it. I'm in the castle now. I never completed P3 because of Tartarus boring me at some point, hope this fares better. Great games, wish they'd make a PS3 version.

I really liked the end. The very end part. The Dead Space ending thread had some really interesting interpretation of the events that went on. I'd recommend it if you don't mind trying to find old threads. Glad you made it past the library level (Chap. 10).

I can't imagine how much P4 will eventually consume me. But that won't be for a few months. I am at the point with Tartarus now where it's a bit of a chore to grind. Of course putting 90 hrs in I guess that is to be expected. I'm really hoping to finish this up this week.

I've been feeling pretty meh about games lately, so after all the discussion I finally went and started up my second playthrough of Persona 4. Sure, it starts you back at level one with no equipment, but it's fun running through with my tweaked out Beelzebub who's level 86 and immune in one way or another to almost everything (except maybe wind and light). He's also got this crazy powerful attack skill that has a very high critical rate.

So thanks to only having to spend a single day to race through the dungeons and having maxed stats, I'm most of the way through June and have already maxed out two social links (okay, okay, one was cheating since it was Margaret and I had my compendium prepared for her), and I'm up to sevens and eights in many others. Oh, and the fox is up to level nine, so that just made the dungeons that much easier. I just hope I can get all the social links this way without using a day-by-day guide.

I already did:D

Thing is, it just didn't really come across as something unexpected in the end.

It was so apparent there was something wrong with your GF from the get go, that the whole hallucination stuff off her being normal just wasn't convincing enough. It just wasn't that well implemented to be surprising. there certainly was a decent story there, but I kinda think they fucked it up with the pacing/timing/exposition. Or I just had to little background info to really care enough to make an impact. Isaac was too much of an empty shell for that

More Pokemon Diamond in preparation for receiving Platinum. I've been breeding and levelling up, in fact it was mostly just breeding. I bred a lot of treeckos to get an Adamant Treecko with Swords Dance, and I'm in the process of levelling up a chimchar until it learns flamethrower so that its children (whether they be Torchics or Chimchars I havent decided) will know both Brick Break and Flamethrower from birth. I'm slightly concerned about making my Platinum team too powerful by giving it moves that they wouldnt have until generally level 20 or 30, but in a lot of cases there is no way for them to get those moves other than via TMs.

The other important thing (as mentioned in the DSi thread) is that I cancelled my DSi preorder. I just cant justify the £150 cost for the damn thing - its not like its much better. I dont need the browser, the currently announced DSiWare titles dont impress me at all, Nintendo wont release DSi only games and besides the hardware isnt even *that* much better. I just dont see the point at the moment. If the price was £120 or something, that would be fine, but £150 is just too much.

Other than that, I read Superman: Red Son. Pity its kinda short and I finished it in an hour or two, but its still damn good. In fact, I really really dig the idea and the story.

I also watched Knowing yesterday. I saw it with two girls, both of whom hated it, and I didnt mind it, but didnt really like it. The problem is that its really two movies in one, and when one of the plots concludes itself, you realize the other one was completely pointless. It had some good spooky moment, some good drama, and to be honest the... twist wasnt all that bad, but was held up by execution here and there but mostly by the story, which, as I said, just eventually makes no sense. The ending makes the entire movie completely pointless. Its got some jarring visuals - some of the action scenes are quite intense, in that they really show people getting blown to bits. You dont see that kinda thing often.

The other thing I didnt really like about it (and this is a personal point), is that the main character was portrayed as someone who become an athiest or agnostic after his wife died. I just felt that atheism was kinda misrepresented in this movie - that by the end of it he says he believes in an afterlife, as if his initial belief was "wrong". And also, he discusses randomness vs determinism with his class, and oonveniently doesnt mention the anthropic principle. Most scientists, and especially astronomers, and especially atheist astronomers, would know what the anthropic principle is, and I didnt like the assumption that the his beliefs implied that life has no purpose and is meaningless. /rant

Anyway, I guess this belongs in another thread or a blog post.

But yeah, mostly Pokemon, with a side order of thinking hard about whether Pokemon is really what I want to or ought to be playing right now (partly because it consumes so much time but also because I still want to play GoW, GTA4, GTA: CW, finish Halo 3, Dead Space, etc etc).

So the movie is preachy? Cause I can live without that stuff in my entertainment.

Ummm.... not really. It doesnt outright state anything in favour of one particular... belief, but it hints against atheism and towards theism of some kind. I suppose it does that heavily, so that might make it preachy. I didnt find it too bad on the preachy font, but I noticed it.

Its not a terrible movie, I mean I've seen worse. As far as sci fi thrillers go, it might even be good. As I said though, its main problem is the twist, which ruins the plot that you see in the trailers.

The spoiler below spoils everything including the ending, dont read if you plan to see it.
When I watched the first scene with Nicolas Cage in it, and his little boy asks about aliens, I knew they were in this movie, and I wasnt wrong. The aliens look like creepy guys in trenchcoats, and it was them who "whisper" to the characters, revealing to them the location, date and number of casualties for every major disaster for the next 50 years. It turns out that the last disaster is in fact the end of the earth due to a massive solar flare, and the aliens plan to save a select few humans (all children) and take them to a new planet to start over. Not a bad idea, I'll grant. Of course, Nick Cage's son and one of his little friends are two of those chosen. So of course, the aliens "kidnap" the kids, Nick Cage reaches them, the kids and the aliens all explain whats happening, and Cage agrees its the only option. With me?

Now, ask yourself, whats the point in the list of disasters and the spooky whispering if you could just whisk the kids away in the middle of the night anyway? I mean, whats the point in the list, if everyone dies on October 19th 2009 anyway? thats why the alien plot makes the number list plot completely pointless, because the list serves no purpose other than to scare the shit out of nick cage and drive him batshit insane. Even when he realizes they mean well, the point is that if they wanted the kids, he couldnt stop them. besides, the kids learn to trust the aliens anyway, so it wouldnt really be a kidnapping.

So, the earth gets destroyed, accompanied by a lot of unnecessary CGi showing it being destroyed, and the kids land on a new planet, which looks fairly cool. But then, they start running towards a tree. Its a huge tree standing alone in a field. And there are two kids. Anyone ever hear of a famous couple called Adam and Eve and the Tree of Life? yeah.... and get this, the aliens, in their natural form, glow with energy and have wings. Mind you, I'm not totally opposed to that, because to me it could imply that the reason we think angels have wings is because these creatures have saved us in the past, so we identify them with angels, even though they are actually just run of the mill aliens.

I had a pretty good gaming weekend, but as always, it wasn't as much as I would have liked.

Bioshock I finished the game on the normal difficulty Saturday night. I went for the good ending, which was short, but sorta satisfying.
Seeing the Little Sisters stab Atlus/Fontaine to death with their little Adam collecting needles was very cool.
I'll eventually go back and get the "bad" ending, I have a save right before going after the last Little Sister, so I'll see what that's like.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories Game #2 that I beat this weekend. It was good despite a pretty throw away story. There was a cool mission towards the end where you had to protect Phil Collins during a concert, so that was sorta neat. It was GTA, for better or worse, but it was enjoyable. Now I can at least stop constantly humming 80s songs out of nowhere. :p

Persona 3 FES After taking a break for the game for over a week, mostly to finish Bioshock, I got back into the game on Sunday. I didn't do much aside from work my way through Tartarus a bit, but I killed the boss shadow on floor 112 and made it to floor 116, which is as far as I can go right now. I think school starts up the next day when I get back, so that'll be something to look forward to.

Final Fantasy XI I barely had the time to get on this weekend, but I did get a party last night on SCH. Synched down to 61 and went to Bibiki Bay of places, somewhere that I haven't leveled in a party in nearly 4 years since I took BLM to 75 (yeah, I've been playing that long :o). It went ok, I got 15k xp out of it, and I got to do the main healer role that I actually enjoyed while leveling SCH up. It's a nice change of pace from merit parties.

Like most of my vacation last week, I played a lot of Rock Band 2. It's sad that I still have a bunch of songs that I've downloaded but not yet played.

Then, on Sunday, I drove back to Alabama from my parents' place in NC. I made it in 8 hours, 52 minutes.

10 hours of Suikoden Tierkreis was the mainstay. Great little game that. A bit of mandatory Galcon on the iPhone along with some other random tower defense game (forgotten the name). Also, a bit of Peggle on the 360, almost finished the adventure mode!

Persona 4 - About 15 hours in, and the Midnight Channel is showing images of the biker guy at a bathhouse. I'm expecting some strange Japanese shit to go down soon. :)

GTA: Chinatown Wars - Picked this up and played a lot of Saturday whenever I was waiting for my G5 to render effects and rotoscoping on a short film I'm doing. Perfect for that, really. Find a Rampage or other small game mode on the map just fool around. Good times.

While it never gets R-rated or anything, I felt like Persona 4 pushed a number of boundaries. I don't think I've seen this much gender confusion in a game in a while. Definitely not an RPG...except for maybe Persona 2: Innocent Sin, or going back to Saga Frontier and the lesbian chick.

I was to dumb to pick up on the clues there was something going on. Of course being that dumb...made it much more fun to think about all the oddities that occurred in the game with gf. I think where EA might of fallen down on a bit was having so much of the backstory involved in stuff that wasn't part of the game that you found in the comic and other stuff that pertained to the story.

My DS does this all the time. Takes away large batches of my time that I could be playing on a console. TWEWY kept me from starting GTA: IV when it came out and Theresia kept me from diving into Tomb Raider: Underworld. Damn that little handheld could...

You are in for some interesting turning points in the story :). I hate it when I can't go further in Tartarus. I get in a grinding mode I just want to see how far I can go. Unleash my bonds dammit :p.

I am going to make a concerted effort to actually play GTA: Chinatown Wars especially after seeing the re-run of South Park.

I played some WoW and realized I wasn't having much fun anymore. Even questing is getting pretty boring again. I will continue doing the daily cooklng quest for the next few weeks until my account expires and then I am done with it for a while.

I played a bit of Endwar on the PS3. I understand why they set the camera/view up the way they did but I wish it was just a tad less cumbersome to target and view enemies. I would prefer a fog of war option instead of the limited view they have now.

I started up my GF account yesterday too. Not sure why.

It definitely crosses the 'creepy' line a couple times. Already I've raised an eyebrow at male teachers commenting on the shortness of the schoolgirl's skirts and repeated comments about boys wanting to have sex with them. Also, there's Teddie and his insatiable desire for the female protagonists...which might not be so strange if he wasn't a bear-like, zipper-headed creature. :D

Spent most of the weekend doing family stuff, but I finally got back to The Witcher!

I still feel that the Lakeside/Murky Waters chapter is such a total disconnect from the rest of the story that it totally breaks the continuity of the game. You've got these great stories and characters being built up in Vizima and then suddenly... It's all left behind for some new and unrelated areas and quests.

Oh, well... Time to kill some Noonwraiths!

My best friend drove up to spend the weekend with me. Our plan was to veg out the whole time on the PS3. Due to the wonder of Best Buy reward zone certificates and weekly deals, I ended up paying only 30 dollars for both Killzone 2 and Valkyria Chronicles. I hear that Valkyria is long so I'll be starting that after I get through P3.

Killzone 2: Played through about half the campaign (at least I think) on Friday night. Took a little while to get used to the aiming controls again after playing a bit of Resistance 2 but once I did... what a blast. The game is very intense and I was blown away by the level of detail in the environments. My friend sat there and whined about how analog controls suck compared to a mouse and keyboard the whole time instead of just playing for a bit and getting used to it. I agree with him but I won't let it stop me from enjoying a great console fps.

Then, Saturday morning, tragedy struck....

My friend's wife was playing Flower. I guess all the peace, love, and serenity was too much for my 3 month old 50" plasma TV. There was a loud "zap", the screen turned into what I can only imagine an acid trip looks like, and there was a puff of smoke out the back. I quickly un-plugged the thing and we cleared out of the room so that we didn't breathe in that wonderful burning electronics smell. The plasma is no more. Later, when I decided to be risky and see what would happen if I turned it back on, I was greeted by a sound similar to a bug zapper on a warm summer night. It will be a week before someone from the Geek squad will come to look at it. God knows how long after that before I'll have a functional TV again.

Soooo... we decided to move our gaming to the PC and spent the rest of the weekend playing hot seat Heroes V. This was my first time playing Heroes in years. I thought that the UI for H5 was horrible but the game was still a lot of fun. We had a good time despite being tv-less.

After my friend went home, I hooked my PS3 up to my computer monitor and played a bit of Ratchet and Clank: Quest for Booty. A lot of fun so far. Feels like an expansion pack for Future. More of the same but in this case, that's a very good thing.

Persona 4 - About 15 hours in, and the Midnight Channel is showing images of the biker guy at a bathhouse. I'm expecting some strange Japanese shit to go down soon. :)I didn't think that Persona 4 got as warped as Persona 3 did, at least on the Social Link side of things, but it keeps throwing awesome stuff at you when you least expect it.

Ok, let's see what I got up to this weekend that wasn't work/moving stuff/trips to the hospital related.

Theresia (DS) - This was the thing that ate up most of my weekend. I just started the Second Phase (Entered B1) and now I know what Theresia means...

Henry Hatsworth & The Puzzling Adventure (DS) - I'm on the third world and love this game to death. I just wish the levels weren't so bloody long!

Suikoden: Tierkeries (DS) - I only played about an hour of this to get a feel for it but I like it. The voice work is good, but it seems to be running at double speed for some reason. Other than that, it's pretty cool.

MadWorld (Wii) - I was stuck on RinRin for a bit but once I got past her, I have been mulching my way through the gang members. I can't play the game for more than a level or two per sitting though. It starts to warp your brain.

Eat Lead (360) - I am getting close to the end of the second last level and even though this game is far from perfect, I still like it. Hopefully I'll finish it off sometime this week.

Chrono Trigger (DS) - I put this down a long time ago and now I can't remember what I have to do next. You'd think that having beaten the game about 40 times in the past would have made it so I could remember where to go, but nope. I'm drawing a blank. Oh well.

WoW (PC) - I finally sat down and put an hour or two into my mage on Sunday morning. My son sort of played along and was my navigator/weapons officer, pointing out any monsters we should fight or avoid.

And that's about it. I did get to see Monsters Vs. Aliens in 3D with my son and it was fun, though somewhat uneven. Looked gorgeous though. And I'm sick with something now, which sucks, though I did get to come home today, which is nice!

I finally beat Grand Theft Auto IV. Had to repeat the last mission several times and was pissed as all hell. I am disappointed in the direction that the story took. I'm pretty sure they are lifting the general idea from a some movie, but the problem was that it really didn't fit with how the story was progressing and it ended up feeling forced.

Some more Resident Evil 5 with my brother while he's still in town. The game does lose a lot of momentum after beating it a first time and it becomes basically a farm-fest for more gold to upgrade your weapons. I may try popping into someone else's game later to try out the online co-op.

Kind of started playing both Pokemon Platinum and Pokemon Pearl. Breeding in Pearl to get good IVs in an adamant Riolu which consists of me pressing up and down while watching How I Met Your Mother on DVD. Working on being able to crosstrade all my pokemons to Platinum when I get my DSi in April.

I practiced some Ninja Gaiden Sigma which is kind of fun. Feels like a game I have to start developing some muscle memory for to win. Still trying to take down the first boss without needing to use my healing items.

Finally, my weekend ended with me finally booting up Far Cry 2. It feels like a mix between Crysis, Oblivion and World of Warcraft. It is a bit of a grind fest where you are constantly trying to collect diamonds for better gear and etc. I hope the story begins to pick up otherwise I may get bored of the mission structure. Even doing the "extra" buddy parts of each mission doesn't add enough to the story.

Overall I would say I had a great gaming weekend.

What Pokemon are you looking to crosstrade into Platinum?
I'm thinking of:
Treecko
Squirtle
Aerodactyl
Chimchar/Torchic (not sure yet)
Shinx
Gible

I'm thinking of swapping the Squirtle out for a Milotic, but I thought since Milotic doesnt ever evolve, it would be kinda unbalanced, and I like teams that improve over time as opposed to starting out brilliant. The Aerodactyl is there because I wanted a decent flyer, it seemed like the best choice.

I was finally able to finish up Viking. It was a great title and a steal for as cheap as you can find it now. I am very suprised that it didn't get more praise. The only real issue with the game imo was that it can get repetetive, though being a hack n slash, repetetive should be expected.

Played way too much RE 5, both story and mercs.

My arm was twisted into buying Worms on XBLA and I ended up playing a fair amount with some Coggers.

Blissey

Otherwise I do plan on crosstrading all my pokemons except for my dead weight (and even then I may trade them to fill out my pokedex). It should be interesting. Hopefully Platinum will be the shot in the arm that my pokemon habit needs to get back off the ground.

I do need to pick names for my pokemon because once I trade 'em their names become locked.

Put a few more hours into the first Penny Arcade game, I'm really loving the humor here, too few games can really make me laugh on purpose. Also got up to chapter 4 in Dark Messiah but I had to take a break after going on a rampage and killing my partner after the 5th time she jumped in front of me while I was trying to kick a guard off a ledge.

Also, for those of you who read my post in the other thread. I found out last night that not only had my brother taken my DS charger out of town on accident, it didn't make it back. So now I'm trying to figure out how to power my DS with will alone.

The plan:
Lots of Demon's Souls this weekend. Also I don't know why but it made me reminisce about playing Vagrant Story.

So, I picked up a cheap copy of Vagrant Story from Ebay, which turned up this morning, and Ashley Riot has smacked down a few guards and lots of bats.

Mass Effect is even getting some play time at the moment.

The reality:

Started yet another Demon's Souls char, a soldier this time, so boosted his strength and he's now running around with the bastard sword chopping people in half.

Completed yet another Mass Effect playthrough (4 on xbox, now 3 on pc), I must be mad :)

Started Dead Space, never got around to playing it when it came out. My bro picked it up whilst he was crashing on my couch for a few days so I got curious watching him play, and he left it for me.

Watching the Giant Bomb endurance runs (http://www.giantbomb.com/videos/) tempted me into picking up Persona 4 again, but I only got through a couple a days (running around the bath house still)

And today I got past a couple more Dawn of War 2 missions.

I beat Conan. Graven was annoying as fuck but Gamefaqs saw me to the end.

I think I'm at the end of Puzzle Quest, but I'm not sure if I can win. I have to fight Lord Bane but there doesn't seem to be a way for me to mount a strong enough attack against him without him killing me. And I don't think I can level past level 50, so my stats are my stats. I'm wondering if playing as the warrior was a good choice.

Also the next game up is Prince of Persia.

Viking was a lot of fun. The only thing I didn't like was the last boss kept kicking my ass took me about an hour to win.

Oddly enough, the last boss was way easier for me than the other creatures similar to it (ambiguous for spoiler reasons). Maybe it was because there were less enemies around than normal, but I took almost no damage, compared to normally which was always at least 1 death.

Eschalon Book I: Found Gunter's metal in the merc cave, damn those Basra (sp) Mercs are tough! Also ventured to close to the Baron's Commune (or whatever it's called) and got my face eaten by a raptor. Thankfully I had just hit quicksave. Then I made my way to Shadowmirk Tower and found the hidden door. What secrets lie inside?

SoaSE - Entrenchment: Played a lil SP and missed a PM from Mag for some MP, dammit.

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition: Thanks to the morality system thread, I picked this up. "Patched" the game to remove the censorship, and proceeded to defend Kaer Mohren, kill a mage, mix a potion, and get laid. All before the first chapter. I think I'm gonna enjoy this game.;)

Burn Zombie Burn: Picked this up on a whim. It's pretty fun for quick play sessions, gotta love shotgunning burning zombies while Crazies chase you in pink Tutus. Hopefully they'll add some more playable characters through DLC.

Guitar Hero World Tour: Played this one drunk. It was okay, the vocal tracking is terrible. When this hits the bargain bin, I'll pick it up, if only to play Stan Bush's "The Touch."

Aedis Eclipse: Working through the first battle. Interesting mechanics, although I'm not sure I like the "hands off" approach to battles. I do like the character designs though.

I played a bit of Oblivion. I've managed to totally obliterate the Mythic Dawn cult in the cave whose name I can't remember. I'm also in the Thieves Guild (but have yet to rob anyone) and the Mage's Guild (only completed the first quest for recommendations). Damn, this game is huge. I haven't even made it over to the Fighter's Guild yet.

...Oblivion...Damn, this game is huge.

Yeah it is. I need to get back to it. I ended up doing part of the guild quests and never even made it to the main storyline before getting distracted by something else.

I only played Gears of War 1 and Gears of War 2. The second by myself, the first with a friend. We're almost done, at the train depot. He is a new 360 owner, so he's having a blast. And I'm almost done with the second game, at the last chapter right now I think. It's much more cinematical, but not as fun I think.

I also bought Alien Hominid yesterday for $5 on XBLA, but haven't had a chance to play. Had to go look at a few real estate properties last night instead.

Coffeetime Crosswords, Wanted, Puzzle Arcade and I purchased Worms just so I could play with my Cogger friends, Kielaran, Shodan, Food Nipple and Drayven. It was fun but I suck at it, LOL.

I'm buying Civ IV for the sole reason MagGnome can kick my butt. It helps his ego out ;)

Reading these threads always makes me think the same thing: I am not a hardcore gamer. I'm just not putting in the hours you guys are. I guess I'm a moderatecore gamer or something.

So I recently aquired a copy of Deadly Creatures and Boom Blox. While the Boom Blox still hasn't been cracked open yet, I did put about an hour and a half into Deadly Creatures. Think I'm going to enjoy.

I also noticed in my Steam games that I downloaded Safecracker at some point, so I decided to give it a try. Some decently challenging puzzles in there. My only issue is that it isn't always obvious what the object of a puzzle is. But for five dollars, it's a good buy if you dig puzzle games.

Safecracker makes my brain hurt. I really like it, but man...

I bought the whole whole Civ 4 series and only played one rushed game so far. I'll have to work a few games in one day.

I've got Civ 4 and it's 2 expansion packs. I'd be down for some multiplayer.

We just make it look like it's hours and hours...it's called stretching the boundaries of truth ;). Seriously, hardcore gamer isn't by the amount of hours. I don't consider myself a hardcore gamer but then someone comes along and gives it a new definition. I'll label myself...lazy ass gamer:eek:

I really laughed myself to tears over that line...bad BB...real bad...but thanks for the hearty laugh.

Great, now I have a Civ IV following in this thread and the grand leader has disappeared. Mr. Gnome...where art thou? You have Civ IV peeps who want to play. Guess i'll have to stalk you on Steam or something...

What you're sayin' is he's more Cinemax than Bang Bros. There's nothing wrong with that. I myself am more blurred out basic cable. Did I get it right?

The thing to realize is that no matter how hardcore you think you are, you'll eventually bump into someone (or a group of someones) who make you feel utterly noob-like in comparison. It's all relative.

In my day to day life, I'm by far the nerdiest, geekiest, gamiest gamer in the tri-state area. Then I bump into Trackzero or come online and realize just how weak my skillz are. The key is to be happy with your level of nerdity and gamertude, whatever it is.

I can honestly say that I've never thought of my gaming habits in that way before.

I honestly don't think I will ever compare it as such in the future. But it was definitely an interesting interlude.

So, my PC is borked. Stupid MS updates. I think it was the Nvidia driver that did it.

Borked like, it's broken forever? That sucks. I hope you back up your files regularly.

A P3 update: I pushed past the 100 hr game time. I'm kinda proud of that since i've never done that before with a game. And to those who have played this...well I thought the game was going to end but doesn't. Nice plot twist too. . I really want to see what happens next but it would mean pulling an all nighter to finish. I'm not that hardcore :).

Borked like, it's broken forever? That sucks. I hope you back up your files regularly.I'm not sure. From what other people are telling me, it might have been hit with Conficker. If I didn't have a bunch of pictures of the kids on there that I don't want to lose, I'd be happy just tossing it in a scrap heap and buying a new rig but I need to salvage those pictures somehow.

Looks like I'll be using the laptop for a while until I either fix the system or get a new one. Oh well. I must be mellowing in my old age though. It used to be that if I had a snafu like this with my PC, I'd go ballistic and not sleep until I fixed it. Granted, that was before I had the laptop...

The sad thing is that the system was running just fine until I decided to run an update to get all of the security patches for the past 6 months in order to avoid Conficker... Sigh.

On the upside, NEW COMPUTER! I just didn't want to do get a new one quite yet. Oh well. That rig is about 4 years old or so (maybe 5), so it is probably due for replacement anyway. I mean, Flash games were bogging it down at times.

Really sorry to hear that. I heard about the Conficker. Actually someone about an hour before April 1st, told me about some virus that was going to hit and did I hear about it. Now, I had a laptop motherboard go on me during a school semester over a year ago. It was a nightmare. I'm still scarred from that experience and hearing about a virus that will eat all my info? I backed up my hard drive quickly. I kept thinking my laptop was going to be eaten by midnight. So, I feel your pain about your computer. I hope you can get your kids photos back.

Holy crap, ANOTHER new computer? I remember when you bought a new one just before Oblivion hit. That was what...2006? I'm still on the same PC I've had since December 2003!! I've only updated it with a HDD, nothing else.

Send that "old" computer my way.

Send that "old" computer my way.Was it really only 2006? Well, it's about 3 years old and it wasn't top of the line then. Good, but not top of the line.

The way I am with PCs, esp. if I game on them, it is usually about 3-4 years between upgrades. I am still going to try to salvage this one but I've been having a lot of issues with it over the past 6-9 months. I've wanted to do some upgrades to it but it made more sense to wait until I get a new system instead of buying things piecemeal.

I mean, I was having issues with browser based flash games and videos chugging on my old system.

The saddest part is that if I'd just left things the way they were, I'd have a perfectly crappy computer still trundling along in the corner of my house. It is nice and quiet now that the thing is turned off. I might be able to hear the games I'm playing over the hum of the 360 now.
