Need to reset my motherboards cmos chip. Can't figure out how to do it with my mobo though, there's nothing I can readily identify by the batter and just a pair of pins next to a label that says clr_cmos. Any help? Yes, I tried looking the useless manual.

Try pulling the cmos battery out.

Unless I'm misreading you, those pins are the key. I don't suppose you have a spare jumper around, do you?

IIRC, my manual says to use a penny across the clr_cmos pins. I wouldnt try it though.

If you don't have a jumper, just pull the battery, unplug the power, hold down the power button for 5 seconds and give it a good two minutes. Put the battery back in and turn that puppy on.

Or you could use a jumper from a cd drive.

Or a pin, or a paperclip, or the tip of a screwdriver, or the hair of an angel. Nearly anything will do the trick.

this will work and is completely ok to do. But I agree with the later poster that said flat head screw driver...those are best.

Anything that will bridge the connection is fine, just don't touch anything else with it!

Safest thing to do would be to pull a jumper off of the CD drive, or even a floppy drive if you've got it (I think they have jumpers, been so long since I've looked at one).

Or, yeah, pull the battery.
