Bethesda released new DLC today for Fallout 3. "The Pitt" is $10 and can be purchased on PC and on the XBL Marketplace. However, just shortly after the DLC went live, the complaints and problems started rolling in.
For starters, look at the screenshot above from Joystiq. Yeah, that's a pretty big deal. There's also reports of floating trees and other objects in the environment. Even worse are the reported freezes that are taking place as well (be careful when talking to Mex before heading downtown).
Word is that Bethesda is currently on top of the situation and working on a fix, but for the time being, buyer beware.
UPDATE: Bethesda reports (http://bethblog.com/index.php/2009/03/24/issues-with-the-pitt/) that a corrupt file was uploaded. It has now been pulled from the LIVE service and will be updated with a new file as soon as they can.
Anyone here at CoG run into this situation?

Is anyone surprised? Bethesda's quality control is terrible. I had to wait weeks just to get a patch on the original and then restart so I wouldn't have missing NPCs and lockups during fast travel. Now 3/4 through the game I haven't touched it in weeks because I'm waiting for a level cap increase patch due to their shoddy game design. I now wish ANY other company had acquired my beloved Fallout license. Sure it's flashy and there's a lot to do, but that's about the best I can say about ANY Bethesda game.

Buggerit. I'm not buying any of the DLC until all of it is released, and then I'll get it all on Steam at once - for a worthwhile (and hopefully, less crashing) second play through.

i wouldn't be buying this until the weekend thankfully so i hope it's all sorted. Tis a shame really.
Also why in hell dose PC live still need god damn MS points? another reason why they should get the DLC on steam!

You fail, psyko. I posted this in the console forums already. :D

Unless you don't mind paying for the third DLC, you're going to be waiting a long time for that level cap increase.

Microsoft's quality control is usually quite good though, I'm surprised that they let this be released.

Heh, I had the exact opposite experience. I had 0 issues with Fallout from beginning to end. I actually thought it was one of the best PC experiences I've had with a game.

wow. didn't see it listed on the marketplace this morning so i'm glad I didn't pick it up today. I can wait until the weekend or until a patch notice is sent out.
marketplace for Pearl Jam Ten was really slow today too.

Bethesda says the certified file was corrupted when it was uploaded. I'm guessing that's true...or someone uploaded the wrong file.

Well since my 360 RRoD'd while playing Fallout 3 this doesn't seem like TOO big of an issue. But if it takes more than a day or so they should refund half the points it cost early adopters.

What, no ninja monkeys?
...okay, maybe a reference to the Morrowind editor is a bit too obscure a joke.

I agree. I had one crash early on before the 1st patch, and after that it's been smooth sailing so far. I've been very impressed with the optimizations to the Oblivion engine.

That would be nice, but I doubt they even have the ability to do something like that.

Throw me in with the folks who had zero problems with the game. I don't recall ever having the game crash... ever. And I played it to death for what's probably over a hundred hours.
I also thought it was remarkably stable for an Oblivion engine.

Ughh..
The last patch broke my game completely.
I just give up...

God, I just read some of the posts over at the Bethesda forums...thank God we don't have any of those around here.

I mock your poor taste!

Assuming you mean The Pitt, did you try deleting the DLC?

I don't understand why this kind of thing happens. Doesn't someone double check these files before uploading them? Surely quality control at both Bethesda and MS would have seen that something was wrong?
Then again, going by last year's Castle Crashers, I guess not. :p
Hopefully they get this sorted out quickly, and get all of the DLC up on Steam. I don't have the game yet, but when I get it I want to buy the DLC on Steam, not GFWL.

No, the last patch.
Anyway, I uninstalled the game.
I'll wait until Broken Steel comes, and If that's the same buggy mess, then that's it for this game.

Sigh this is sad. I was lucky to have no issues with my game (on PC), but the patches have been ruining my game performance and have just been getting annoying... I think I will put this on the shelf for a few months and come back later to finish it after some of this crap is ironed out.

Obviously Bethesda is known for putting out totally stable games with a minimal amount of bugs. :p

Well, the Pitt is a file-transfer problem, not quite the same thing.
I found the 360 release of FALLOUT3 to be incredibly stable, a happy surprise for someone who still remembers the original ElderScrolls games and the state they were released in ('pooped the pants' is the technical term).

My 360 version of Fallout 3 never even hiccuped on me. I feel sorry for those of you who had problems. Obviously, it's not always an issue with the software.

Yeah, it's weird. I have both the 360 and PC versions of the game and have had almost no problems on either platform. (I have not bought The Pitt for either, but I did get Operation Anchorage for the 360.) Both version have, outside of a few NPC glitches, been very stable and polished.
As for the problems with The Pitt... Yeah, there's not much to say there. That's a stupid mistake on someone's part.
