Tilted Mill (Hinterland) just announced their new game. Mosby's Confederacy (http://www.tiltedmill.com/mosbys_confederacy/) is a strategy game based on John Singleton Mosby (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Singleton_Mosby), the Gray Ghost, and his exploits during the Civil War.

Turn-based Confederacy Level with unit and resource management
Units live in towns that you can influence to support your goals
Availability of units for specific missions is dependent on their town's support for you
Your interactions with towns, as well as casualties you send home to them, changes the face of the region
Real-time tactical combat missions
Enemy unit concentrations and mission objectives are randomized for replayability
Focus on reconnaissance and stealth tactics
Units under your command vary in terms of base stats as well as "attributes" they earn as they level
You choose who to take into combat and within a given mission you must work with those units to complete the mission (there are no unit spawning buildings that give you replacements in battle)
Randomized units that gain specializations over time with experience
Emphasis on each unit as a real soldier rather than traditional RTS expendable, nameless units
Each campaign starts with a small group of veteran units mixed in with raw recruits whose homes are chosen at random
Though most of the units come into the world as raw recruits, your ability as a leader to cultivate them into effective Rangers, Riflemen, Cavalrymen and Scouts (each of whichom has his own strengths and weaknesses) will be key to your success

Sounds good to me! Hinterland is the best $20 I've spent on gaming in a while.

more "lets make it as random as hell and call it repeatability and any one who dislikes being screwed over in a game for nothing they did wrong can be told they are to 'make the best of what they have' even if there are no choices to be made and your forced in to hoping that you get lucky to win" gaming.... heh sorry reading to much of the forums, as much as i enjoy hinterlands theres just so much luck and random stuff involved on such a scale that it can frustrate me beacuse it's not about 'making do' beacuse you have so little choice in everything.

Still well worth 20$ and i enjoy it but there's no way i'm putting down money for another one of there games with out trying it first

I love me some Turn-based wargames and the Civil War is a great era for musket and horse tactics. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.

I wonder if there will be any backlash due to the context of the game.

Ah well, Tilted Mill has made me a very happy gamer. I'll be very interested in hearing more about this title in the future.
